As expected, fans witnessed a real football festival at Stadion Maksimir on Thursday evening. The first half of the UEFA Nations League clash between Croatia and Spain, though, was pretty quiet. There were no goals in the first 45 minutes of the match, but the Ante Dalic’s men broke the deadlock nine minutes into the second half, with Andrej Kramaric rifling an unstoppable low drive into the middle of the net. Nonetheless, only two minutes later La Roja scored the equalizer, with Dani Ceballos finding the net to make it 1-1. Croatia decided to stick to their attacking style of play and they took yet another lead after 69 minutes as Tin Jedvaj scored from close range. Nine minutes later Sergio Ramos leveled the score from the penalty spot, but the Croats head the last word in the Stadion Maksimir clash as Tin Jedvaj fired the ball into the right side of the goal in the dying seconds of the match to set up the final score 3-2.

Hungary 2 – 0 Estonia
Hungary faced Estonia at Groupama Arena in Budapest in the penultimate group game in the UEFA Nations League. The Hungarians were considered hot favourites to win the match and they quickly took the lead, with Willi Orban finding the net after eight minutes. His bullet header helped the hosts break the deadlock, but Marco Rossi ‘s men continued to dominate the game. Hungary failed to double their lead in the first half of the match, but Adam Szalai got his name on the scoresheet in the 69th minute as he took advantage of Estonia’s defensive error. The Hoffenheim attacker scored a beautiful goal to set up the final score of the match and help Hungary move one step closer to clinching second place in League C Group 2. It has to be noted that the hosts had no less than 18 goal attempts in the 2-0 win over Estonia.

8′ Willi Orban 1 – 0
69′ Adam Szalai 2 – 0

Belgium 2 – 0 Iceland
Belgium were struggling to find the net in the first half of Thursday’s football game against Iceland, but they eventually recorded a very important win in their penultimate group game in the UEFA Nations League. The Red Devils had only one clear-cut opportunity to score in the first half of the game, with Michy Batshuayi missing a sitter from inside the six-yard box. The Red Devils continued to dominate the game, but the fans had to wait for the first goal until 65th minute of the match when Batshuayi tapping the ball into an empty net. To make things even better for the Valencia attacker, he doubled Belgium’s lead 16 minutes later after Hannes Holldorsson’s huge mistake. Roberto Martinez’s men then decided to defend their lead and they did it in style. Taking everything into account, Belgium’s win was well deserved ad they had 22 goal attempts during the match.
