Bundesliga Season Preview 2018/2019 (Second Half)

Bundesliga Season Preview 2018/2019 (Second Half)

Over the years Bayern Munchen have established themselves as the dominant force in the Bundesliga, but Borussia Dortmund are on the right track to put an end to their dominance in the German top flight.

Borussia Dortmund won their last Bundesliga trophy in 2012, meaning that they are determined to go all the way in the German elite division this term. The Millionaires have been producing splendid displays in all competitions ever since Lucien Favre took over the reins and, as a result, they are leading the chase for the domestic title. Borussia Dortmund suffered only one loss in the first half of the season and if they remain injury-free in the remainder of the season, Marco Reus and Co. will almost certainly win the trophy. Yet another man to watch in Lucien Favre’s team will be England rising star Sancho.

Bayern Munchen, on the other hand, have been struggling to find their form under Niko Kovac, who is under big pressure in the second half of the season. The mighty Bavarians suffered a heart-breaking loss to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga derby at the weekend and, as a result, they dropped to third position in the standings. It is still early to draw a conclusion, but given Borussia Dortmund’s thrilling form, Niko Kovac’s men have slim chances of defending their trophy. Robert Lewandowski has been struggling to find his goal-scoring touch of late and, no doubt, the reining champions need to make a big progress if they are to lift their 29th domestic trophy.

Leipzig made a slow start to the season, but they have been raising their form week by week and, as a result, they are sitting in top four in the Bundesliga table at the moment. The Red Bulls are playing on three fronts, but given the number of high-profile footballers in Ralf Rangnick’s team, we are positive that they are going to book their place in the Champions League.

Borussia M’gladbach have been impressive in the 2018/2019 Bundesliga season as well, with Thorgan Hazard being in the form of his life. Die Fohlen aim to keep their 100% record at home intact and seeing that they improved their away record as well, we are positive that Dieter Hecking’s charges are going to secure a top-four finish.

Eintracht Frankfurt have been playing above expectations in the German top flight this term, with Serbian attacker Luka Jovic enjoying a season to remember. The Bundesliga top scorer looks unstoppable at the moment, but considering that die Adler face a tough fixture list in the remainder of the season, they are unlikely to represent Germany in the Champions League next term.

Speaking of the relegation battle, Nurnberg and Hannover are considered main favourites to suffer a drop to 2. Bundesliga, while Stuttgart, Augsburg and Fortuna Dusseldorf could find it hard to secure yet another top flight survival.
