Our football match prediction:
All eyes will be on Stadio San Siro when Milan and Roma face each other in the Serie A derby. The Rossoneri are five points behind the Europa League berth in the standings, meaning that this has to go down as a must-win game for the hosts, whilst the Giallorossi are determined to finish the season in top two. Roma suffered a heartbreaking 3-1 loss to Lazio in the Rome derby at the weekend and it remains to be seen if they are capable of recovering from the defeat. It seems as if Milan want this win more than their rivals and, taking everything into account, we predict that the Rossoneri will record their 12th home win of the season this weekend. Carlos Bacca came as a substitute in a 1-1 draw with Crotone at the weekend, but the former Sevilla man is widely expected to lead the line for the hosts against Luciano Spalletti’s troops.
Highlighted Player (Bacca):
One of the most talented strikers of this generation, the 29-year-old Carlos Bacca began his senior professional career at Atletico Junior. He caught attention with his exploits and ended up as top scorer in the league in 2010. Bacca signed with Club Brigge in 2012 where he was the league’s top scorer in the only full season he played for them. It was his move to Spanish club Sevilla that brought the best out of Bacca. The striker was an integral part of the team that won the UEFA Europa League in his first two years with the club. Having been courted by many top sides across the world, Bacca signed with Serie A side Milan in 2015 for a reported fee of €30 million. Bacca is well known for his pace and aggression which has won him 27 caps and 11 goals on international duty with Colombia, since 2012.
Highlighted Team (AS Roma):
AS Roma are a professional football club based in Rome. Roma were founded by a merger in 1927 and they play in the Italian Serie A. Roma’s fiercest rivals are Lazio and it has to be noted that both capital clubs play their home games at Stadio Olimpico. The two local rivals face each other in the Derby della Capitale, which is considered one of the most exciting derbies in the world of football. The Giallorossi (The Yellow and Reds) have won three Serie A titles (1941/1942, 1982/1983, 2000/2001), while winning nine Coppa Italia trophies. The colour of Roma’s shirts is imperial purple with a golden yellow trim. A number of top-class footballers were part of Roma in the past, but Francesco Totti is undisputedly the club’s biggest legend. “The Prince of Rome” made his 601 appearances for Roma on 14 May, 2016 when the Giallorossi recorded a 3-1 win over Milan at Stadio San Siro.
