Our football match prediction:
Thanks to a come-from-behind win over Borussia M’gladbach Koln climbed to the Champions League berth in the Bundesliga standings. The Billy Goats are level on points with star-studded Borussia Dortmund and they are just three points adrift off reigning champions Bayern Munich ahead of the visit of Augsburg. Koln are brimming with confidence at the moment and we predict that the hosts are going to record their fifth home win of the season. Augsburg, on the other hand, played out a goalless draw with Hertha at the weekend and you should bear in mind that they are after their third consecutive clean sheet in the German top flight. Dirk Schuster’s men are likely to rely on their defence in Saturday’s football match against Koln, but they are unlikely to prevent the in-form hosts from scoring on Matchday 12. Augsburg suffered two defeats in previous three away fixtures in the league and they are unlikely to spoil Koln’s party at RheinEnergieStadion.
Highligted Player (Mavraj):
Born in Germany to Albanian parents, Mergim Mavraj made two appearances for the Germany Under 21 side before switching his allegiance to Albania and he has since become a key defender for his new national team. The experienced centre back began his professional career at Darmstadt, but his talent was quickly spotted by Bochum scouts and he made a move to the Bundesliga side in 2007. Four years later, he surprisingly opted to join second division side Greuther Furth, but that proved a good career move as he helped the team secure promotion to the Bundesliga before putting in some solid showings in the Germany’s top flight. But, when his side eventually returned to the second division, he moved to FC Koln, where he has been since the summer of 2014. Meanwhile, Mavraj quickly established himself as an important player for the Albanian national team, establishing a good partnership with captain Lorik Cana, and helping the team secure their place at the Euro 2016 finals.
Highlighted Team (Augsburg):
Augsburg are a German football club founded in Augsburg, Bavaria back in 1907. Die Fuggerstadter play in German Bundesliga and with 12,200 members they are regarded as the largest football club in Bavaria. Augsburg wear white shirts and they host their rivals at WWK ARENA. The capacity of the stadium is 30,660 and it has been the home of Augsburg since 2009. Augsburg won the Schwaben Cup 13 times and it has to be noted that they were promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in 2011. The club qualified for the Europa League 2015/2016 group stages and thanks to a 3-1 win over Partizan in Belgrade they booked their place in the last 32. However, Liverpool proved to be a big catch for the German outfit in the Europa League knockout stages. Die Fuggerstadter’s main rivals are TSV 1860 Munich and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other.
