Our football match prediction:
Bayern Munich look unstoppable at the moment. Following a 5-1 victory over Arsenal in the Champions League, Bayern Munich crushed Hamburger (8-0) in their last league fixture and the title holders will be looking to cement top position in the Bundesliga standings with a victory over Koln at RheinEnergieStadion. However, the Billy Goats are tough to beat at home and you should bear in mind that they have yet to suffer a loss in front of home fans this season. Koln aim to climb to the Europa League berth, but, no doubt, the hosts would be happy with one point from Saturday’s football match against the star-studded Bavarians. Carlo Ancelotti’s men are five points clear of Leipzig in the Bundesliga table, meaning that they do not face a must-win situation in the game against Peter Stoger’s team. As previously mentioned, the Billy Goats are tough to beat at home and we predict that they will play out a draw with the reigning champions on Matchday 23.
Highlighted Player (Jonas Hector):
Jonas Hector is a product of Koln’s youth school. The left back was born on 27 May, 1990 in Saarbrucken and he began his youth career at SV Auersmacher. In 2010 he joined FC Koln and he made 63 league appearances for the reserve team between 2010 and 2013. Ever since he made his debut for the senior team on 27 August, 2012 he has been playing regularly for the Billy Goats and he certainly helped the team return to Bundesliga at the end of the 2013/2014 campaign. Jonas Hector made his Germany debut on 14 November, 2014 in a 4-0 win over Gibraltar. The left-footed defender scored his first goal for the German national team on 29 March, 2016 in a 4-1 victory over Italy in Munich. Hector represented his homeland at the 2016 European Championship finals in France and he scored the winner from the penalty spot in the quarter-final against Italy. Hector is capable of playing as a midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Bayern Munich):
Over the years Bayern Munich have established themselves as one of the most successful European clubs. The Stern des Sudens (Star of the South) are the dominant force in German football and it has to be noted that the Bavarians clinched their 26th Bundesliga title in 2016. Bayern Munich have won 18 German Cup trophies, while winning the Champions League (European Cup) five times. The German giants clinched the Intercontinental Cup in 1976 and 2001, while lifting the FIFA Club World Cup trophy in 2013. Bayern Munich was founded in 1900 by eleven football players and their leader was Franz John. The Bavarians host their rivals at Allianz Arena (75,000), the stadium that was built in 2005. Fellow Bavarian sides TSV 1860 Munchen 1860 and Nurnberg are regarded as Bayern Munich’s fiercest rivals, but the rivalry between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern is big as well. The likes of Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Franz Beckenbauer, Lothar Matthaus, Oliver Kahn, Gerd Muller and Giovane Elber are famous footballers who played for Bayern Munich in the past.
