Our football match prediction:
Bayer Leverkusen have been struggling in the 2016/2017 Bundesliga campaign and coach Roger Schmidt paid price for poor results. Nonetheless, new boss Tayfun Korkut has yet to record a win with the BayArena outfit and we predict that the hosts will go all guns blazing at Wolfsburg in Sunday’s football match. Leverkusen are only four points clear of the relegation zone, meaning that they need to take the upcoming league fixture very seriously. The Wolves, on the other hand, aim to build on back-to-back wins over the likes of Leipzig and Darmstadt, but beating Bayer on the road is easier said than done. After failing to win previous four league games, he hosts are desperate to start a new winning run in the national championship and we are tempted to put our money on Tayfun Korkut’s troops. You should bear in mind that Bayer Leverkusen defeated Wolfsburg in previous two meetings between the two teams in Bundesliga.
Highlighted Player (Hakan Calhanoglu):
Hakan Calhanoglu is another one in the long line of Turkish footballers who were born in Germany, so it is hardly surprising he came to prominence thanks to his performances in Bundesliga. The attacking midfielder with great vision and very good goalscoring record started his professional career at Karlsruher, scoring impressive 17 goals in 50 league outings to earn a move to Bundesliga side Hamburg. The spell at Imtech Arena was merely a stepping stone for bigger things as 11 goals in his debut top flight campaign persuaded Bayer Leverkusen to splash nearly €15 million on his services. That proved a very good investment as Calhanoglu continued the rich vein of form, and it is now a matter of time before he joins one of European powerhouses. The midfield maestro had a bright start to his career in the Turkey national team, scoring 5 goals in first 16 caps, and chances are he will become a leader for Milli Takim in the foreseeable future.
Highlighted Team (Wolfsburg):
Wolfsburg are a German football club founded in the aftermath of the World War II (1945). Die Wolfe (The Wolves) wear green and white shirts and they play their home games at Volkswagen Arena. The capacity of the stadium is 30,000 and it was opened on 13 December, 2002. It is well known that German car manufacturer Volkswagen are the club’s main sponsors. Wolfsburg won the Bundesliga trophy in 2009 and the likes of Edin Dzeko, Grafite and Zvjezdan Misimovic were part of the club’s golden generation. You should bear in mind that Grafite and Dzeko scored 54 goals between each other in the 2008/2009 Bundesliga campaign and that the team clinched the trophy thanks to a 5-1 win over Werder Bremen on 23 May, 2009. Die Wolfe won the German Cup trophy in 2015, with the team beating star-studded Borussia Dortmund 3-1 in the title game. Wolfsburg are a team that has no bitter rivals in German football.
