Our match prediction:
While many agree that Bayern Munich have already secured another league title, the eight-point advantage over Borussia Dortmund is small enough to keep the Bavarians on their toes and ensure they take every game very seriously. Pe Guardiola’s men demonstrated their power in the Champions League clash with Juventus, but eventually paid the price for defensive problems and had to settle for a 2-2 draw. But, having recovered to defeat Wolfsburg on the road, it is not difficult to predict that the Bavarians will turn on the style against Mainz as well. Even if they suffered a loss to Ingolstadt at the start of the second part of the season, Mainz have been thoroughly impressive after the winter break, winning four of last five league games to climb to fifth in the overall standings. The team now stand a realistic chance of fighting for Champions League positions, but that does not mean they have what it takes to stop mighty Bayern in their tracks.
