Our football match prediction:
Borussia M’gladbach came from behind to beat Bayer Leverkusen (3-2) at BayArena at the weekend. Die Fohlen managed to put an end to their three-game winless run in Bundesliga, but they need to keep on raising their form if they are to book their place in European competitions. Borussia M’gladbach are a real force to be reckoned with at home and seeing that their next rivals Freiburg struggle on the travels, we predict that Dieter Hecking’s men will give fans yet another reason for celebration. Christian Streich’s team did well to beat Hertha at home in their last league fixture, but the team’s away record is anything but good. Freiburg have already suffered five defeats on the road this term and they are unlikely to grab something from Saturday’s football match against Borussia M’gladbach. Lars Stindl scored a brace against Bayer Leverkusen and he will be the man to watch in the home team.
Highlighted Player (Yann Sommer):
After making 133 league appearances for Basel between 2007 and 2014, Yann Sommer joined Borussia Monchengladbach on March, 2014. The Swiss goalkeeper signed a five-year deal with the Bundesliga outfit and he was signed to replace Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who joined Barcelona. Sommer made 34 appearances for Borussia M’gladbach in the 2014/2015 season and it has to be noted that he managed to keep 15 clean sheets. As a result, die Fohlen finished the season in third place in the standings. The Swiss shoot-stopper, though, was not as successful in the 2015/2016 season, keeping just 5 clean sheets, while conceding 50 goals in the process. Sommer made his Switzerland debut on 30 May, 2012 in a 1-0 loss to Romania and he represented the Rossocrociati at both 2014 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2016. The shoot-stopper made 8 appearances for Switzerland on the road to Euro 2016 and he conceded eight goals in the process. Sommer played four games for the Rossocrociati at the tournament in France, conceding two goals, while keeping two clean sheets.
Highlighted Team (Freiburg):
Freiburg are a professional football club that compete in German Bundesliga. Freiburg were founded in 1904 and they welcome their rivals at Schwarzwald-Stadion. The stadium has been the home of Freiburg since 1954 and the capacity of the facility is 24,000. Die Breisgau-Brasilianer wear black and white shirts and black shorts, whilst the colour of the team’s away kit is white. Freiburg made it to the German Cup semis in the 2012/2013 DFB Pokal campaign, but their local rivals VFB Stuttgart proved to be a big catch for the Schwarzwald-Stadion outfit. After spending several years in lower leagues, Die Breisgau-Brasilianer returned to the German top flight in 2016. The likes of Levan Kobiashvili, Papiss Cisse, Sascha Rieter, Joachim Low, Zlatan Bajramovic, Mohammadaou Idrissou, Roda Antar, Sebastian Kehl, Richard Golz are the notable footballers who played for Augsburg in the past. It is well known that Joachim Low helped Germany win the 2014 FIFA World Cup as a coach.
