Our football match prediction:
Mainz are a team with two faces. The Reds are tough to beat on home soil, while their performances on the travels leave a lot to be desired. Martin Schmidt’s men recorded a 3-1 win over relegation-threatened Hamburger in their last game in 2016 and they certainly want to continue where they left last year. Koln, on the other hand, have been producing fine performances against top-table sides in the 2016/2017 Bundesliga campaign, but they are on a five-match winless run in the German elite division ahead of Matchday 17. The Billy Goats shared the spoils with their rivals in each of their previous three league fixtures and we predict that the visitors will pick up one point from the Opel Arena clash. The two teams seem to be evenly matched at the moment and there is every chance fans will see a close encounter in Mainz on Sunday afternoon.
