Our football match prediction:
Mainz will be aiming to make amends for a heavy loss to Hoffenheim when they take on Augsburg at their Opel Arena. Die Nullfunfer have yet to record a win in 2017 and, no doubt, Friday’s football match is of big importance for the hosts. Martin Schmidt’s men experienced all sorts of problems at the back in the 4-0 loss to Hoffenheim, but it is well known that the team’s performances on the road leave a lot to be desired. Mainz are tough to beat at home and they are definitely capable of grabbing something from Friday’s game against Augsburg. Manuel Baum’s men aim to build on back-to-back wins over Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen, but beating die Nullfunfer at Opel Arena is easier said than done. Anyhow, the hosts want this win more than the visitors and we predict that Martin Schmidt’s team will return to winning ways on Matchday 20.
Highlighted Player (Giulio Donati):
Giulio Donati was born in Pietrasanta, the Province of Lucca and he started his career at his home-town club Lucchese. In 2008 Inter scouts spotted him and he joined the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza outfit in July. He played for the Inter U20 team, but he did not make his Inter debut in Serie A. After ending his loan spells with the likes of Lecce, Padova and Grosetto the Italian defender joined Bayer Leverkusen on 21 June, 2013, for a fee of €3 million. He made 23 league appearances for Bayer in the 2013/2014 Bundesliga campaign, but he played just 8 league matches for the club in the 2014/2015 season. Speaking of his international career, Donati played three games for Italy U20 and he has 26 caps for the U21 team. On 25 January, 2016 he signed a contract with Mainz, which expires in 2019. Donati is a right back, but he is capable of playing as a left back and a right midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Augsburg):
Augsburg are a German football club founded in Augsburg, Bavaria back in 1907. Die Fuggerstadter play in German Bundesliga and with 12,200 members they are regarded as the largest football club in Bavaria. Augsburg wear white shirts and they host their rivals at WWK ARENA. The capacity of the stadium is 30,660 and it has been the home of Augsburg since 2009. Augsburg won the Schwaben Cup 13 times and it has to be noted that they were promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in 2011. The club qualified for the Europa League 2015/2016 group stages and thanks to a 3-1 win over Partizan in Belgrade they booked their place in the last 32. However, Liverpool proved to be a big catch for the German outfit in the Europa League knockout stages. Die Fuggerstadter’s main rivals are TSV 1860 Munich and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other.
