Our football match prediction:
Mainz and Bayern Munich face each other at OPEL ARENA in the opening match of day 14 of the new Bundesliga campaign. The reigning champions recorded a hard-fought win over Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend, but they failed to overtake Leipzig in top position in the standings. Carlo Ancelotti’s men face yet another must-win situation against Mainz and we predict that the Italian tactician is going to field the best possible side against the Nullfunfer. Robert Lewandowski failed to score against Bayer Leverkusen, but the Polish attacker, who has been scoring goals for fun this term, is likely to prove a handful for the opposition defenders. Mainz are tough to beat at home, but grabbing something from Friday’s football match against Bayern Munich is easier said than done. Martin Schmidt’s men outplayed FCB at Allianz Arena last season, meaning that the title holders are hungry for revenge.
Highligted Player (Giulio Donati):
Giulio Donati was born in Pietrasanta, the Province of Lucca and he started his career at his home-town club Lucchese. In 2008 Inter scouts spotted him and he joined the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza outfit in July. He played for the Inter U20 team, but he did not make his Inter debut in Serie A. After ending his loan spells with the likes of Lecce, Padova and Grosetto the Italian defender joined Bayer Leverkusen on 21 June, 2013, for a fee of €3 million. He made 23 league appearances for Bayer in the 2013/2014 Bundesliga campaign, but he played just 8 league matches for the club in the 2014/2015 season. Speaking of his international career, Donati played three games for Italy U20 and he has 26 caps for the U21 team. On 25 January, 2016 he signed a contract with Mainz, which expires in 2019. Donati is a right back, but he is capable of playing as a left back and a right midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Bayern Munich):
Over the years Bayern Munich have established themselves as one of the most successful European clubs. The Stern des Sudens (Star of the South) are the dominant force in German football and it has to be noted that the Bavarians clinched their 26th Bundesliga title in 2016. Bayern Munich have won 18 German Cup trophies, while winning the Champions League (European Cup) five times. The German giants clinched the Intercontinental Cup in 1976 and 2001, while lifting the FIFA Club World Cup trophy in 2013. Bayern Munich was founded in 1900 by eleven football players and their leader was Franz John. The Bavarians host their rivals at Allianz Arena (75,000), the stadium that was built in 2005. Fellow Bavarian sides TSV 1860 Munchen 1860 and Nurnberg are regarded as Bayern Munich’s fiercest rivals, but the rivalry between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern is big as well. The likes of Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Franz Beckenbauer, Lothar Matthaus, Oliver Kahn, Gerd Muller and Giovane Elber are famous footballers who played for Bayern Munich in the past.
