Our football match prediction:
Schalke have been impressive in the Europa League this season, but, on the other hand, they have been playing below expectations in Bundesliga. Die Knappen have collected only 18 from possible 48 points in the German elite division to date and it is no surprise they sit in the bottom half of the table. Schalke are eager to record a win over Ingolstadt in their first game of the new year, but they will have to prove their worth on the field. Markus Wienzierl’s men failed to beat the likes of Bayer Leverkusen and Freiburg in previous two home games in the league, but you should bear in mind that they are after their fifth home win of the season. Ingolstadt suffered a 2-1 defeat to Freiburg in their last game in 2016 and seeing that they sit in the relegation zone ahead of the trip to Gelsenkirchen, we predict that the hosts will pick up all three points from Saturday’s football match.
Highlighted Player (Benedikt Howedes):
Benedikt Howedes is a German international who plays for Bundesliga side Schalke 04. The 187-cm-tall defender is a product of Schalke’s youth school and he played for the reserve team between 2007 and 2009. He made his debut for the first team in the 2007/2008 Bundesliga campaign, but he played no more than 6 matches for die Knappen during the season. Howedes plays for the German national team as well and he made his Germany debut against Uruguay on 29 May, 2011. The Schalke defender represented Joachim Low’s team at the 2016 European Championship finals. Howedes is a centre back, but he is capable of playing as a right back as well. However, at the start of his senior career he played as a left back. He is well known for his brilliant first-time passing and he often scores headers. During his youth career the German defender played for the likes of TuS Haltern and SG Herten-Langenbochum. Howedes was struggling with injury in the 2015/2016 Bundesliga campaign and as a result, he played no more than 15 matches for Schalke in the league.
Highlighted Team (Ingolstadt):

In the season 2014/2015 Ingolstadt managed to qualify for the Bundesliga for the first time in the clubs history. FC Ingolstadt plays it’s home games in the Audi-Sportpark stadium which holds a capacity of 15 500 seats and is one of the smallest stadiums in the highest German football division. The club colours of Ingolstadt are red and black which is a combination of the ESV Ingolstadt and MTV Ingolstadt kit. Ingolstadt is known as Die Schanzer by it’s fans. In the club history Ingolstadt didn’t manage to win any prizes. The bigest achievement of the club was on Sunday 17th of May 2015 where the club got promoted to the Bundesliga after beating Red Bull Leipzig and got crowned as the champion of the 2.Bundesliga. The achievements of Ingolstadt are very impressive for a club that is only active since 2004. Currently Ingolstadt doesn’t have any very known players. Manager Ralph-Hasenhuttl does have a legendary status in Ingolstadt being the manager who promoted his club to the Bundesliga.
