Our football match prediction:
Wolfsburg welcome Borussia Dortmund at their Volkswagen Arena in the opening match of the 2017/2018 Bundesliga campaign. The Wolves secured the top-flight survival thanks to a win over Eintracht Braunschweig in the play-offs and it remains to be seen if they are going to record a better result in the German elite division this term. Experienced attacker Mario Gomez is still part of the team and new signings Ignacio Camacho should play an important role in Andries Jonker’s team as well. Borussia Dortmund chiefs, on the other hand, did remarkably well to keep hold of key players in the summer transfer window and, no doubt, the Millionaires are eager to put an end to Bayern Munich’s dominance in the German top flight. Borussia Dortmund were more than unfortunate not to win the German Super Cup and we predict that they will give 100% to kick off the new Bundesliga campaign in style.
Highligted Player (Mario Gomez):
Mario Gomez started his senior career at Stuttgart. He played scored 63 goals in 121 league appearances for the club and he played for the reserve team as well (43/21). In 2009 he signed a four-year deal with fellow Bundesliga side Bayern Munich and he won two domestic titles with the mighty Bavarians (2009/2010, 2012/2013). In 2013 he clinched the Champions League trophy with Bayern Munich as they defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the title game. Mario Gomez was part of Germany 2010 World Cup squad that won the bronze medal at the showpiece tournament in South Africa and he played for Joachim Low’s team at the 2016 European Championship finals. The German attacker spent the 2015/2016 season on loan at Besiktas and he joined Wolfsburg in the summer of 2016. Mario Gomez has a contract with the Wolves which expires on 30 June 2019. He was born on 10 July, 1985 in Riedlingen, Germany.
Highlighted Team (Borussia Dortmund):
1909 by eighteen footballers from Dortmund. Die Schwarzgelben (The Black and Yellows) play their home games at Signal Iduna Park, but the stadium’s original name is Westfalenstadion. The capacity of Borussia’s home ground is 81,539 and it has to be noted that the stadium was opened in 1974. BVB have the highest average attendance in the world of football. Borussia Dortmund have won eight Bundesliga trophies, while clinching the German Cup title three times. However, the club’s biggest success came in 1997 when they outplayed Juventus in the Champions League final. Karl-Heinz Riedle scored a brace for BVB in the 3-1 win over Juve, with Lars Ricken finding the net in the title game as well. Borussia’s biggest rivals are Schalke 04 and the two teams square off against each other in the Revierderby.
