Our football match prediction:
Wednesday’s football match at Volkswagen Arena pits together Wolfsburg and Freiburg. After recording back-to-back wins over the likes of Leipzig and Darmstadt, the Wolves came from behind to share the spoils with Bayer Leverkusen in their last league match and that certainly gave them a confidence boost. Andries Jonker’s men are eager to escape the danger zone and we predict that the hosts, who have found their form of late, will pick up all three points from Wednesday’s clash. Mario Gomez is enjoying a very successful season, “Super Mario” scored a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen and he is likely to prove a handful for the opposition defenders. Freiburg experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 5-2 loss to Werder Bremen and, taking everything into account, they are unlikely to spoil Wolfsburg’s party at Volkswagen Arena. It has to be noted that Wolfsburg are after their fifth consecutive win over Freiburg in all competitions.
Highlighted Player (Vieirinha):
Better known as Vieirinha, Adelino Andre Vieira de Freitas originates from Guimaraes, and it was at Vitoria Guimaraes that he spent seven years before joining FC Porto academy in 2002. Despite getting promoted to the senior side in 2005, the winger was never given a chance to impress at Estadio do Dragao and following several loan spells, he opted to sign for Greek giants PAOK. Vieirinha clearly profited from exposure to first team football, scoring 18 goals in 78 league matches for the club. His impressive displays did not go unnoticed and Wolfsburg soon came calling. Despite arriving at the club as a right winger, the Portuguese footballer was eventually converted to right-back near the end of the 2014/2015 season and has since impressed in his new position. After representing his country at various youth levels, Vieirinha received his first call-up to the senior squad in November 2011, but he had to wait until March 2013 to be handed his debut. The experienced footballer, nonetheless, secured his place in the 2014 World Cup squad, making one appearance at the tournament finals.
Highlighted Team (Freiburg):
Freiburg are a professional football club that compete in German Bundesliga. Freiburg were founded in 1904 and they welcome their rivals at Schwarzwald-Stadion. The stadium has been the home of Freiburg since 1954 and the capacity of the facility is 24,000. Die Breisgau-Brasilianer wear black and white shirts and black shorts, whilst the colour of the team’s away kit is white. Freiburg made it to the German Cup semis in the 2012/2013 DFB Pokal campaign, but their local rivals VFB Stuttgart proved to be a big catch for the Schwarzwald-Stadion outfit. After spending several years in lower leagues, Die Breisgau-Brasilianer returned to the German top flight in 2016. The likes of Levan Kobiashvili, Papiss Cisse, Sascha Rieter, Joachim Low, Zlatan Bajramovic, Mohammadaou Idrissou, Roda Antar, Sebastian Kehl, Richard Golz are the notable footballers who played for Augsburg in the past. It is well known that Joachim Low helped Germany win the 2014 FIFA World Cup as a coach.
