Our match prediction:
The newly promoted side have spent a big part of the current campaign in and around the relegation zone, but the latest run of good results give them a decent chance of securing another season of Serie A football. It was the wins over relegation rivals Frosinone and Hellas Verona that had the biggest impact on Carpi’s position in the standings, while the 4-1 hammering of Genoa and goalless draw at San Siro ensured the team remained above the bottom three. Boasting a two-point advantage over Frosinone, Carpi have a chance to all but secure survival by beating Empoli, and while that will be no easy task the bigger motivation may just prove decisive here. The Azzurri have done well to beat Fiorentina and Verona at home, but they have lost each of their last four away fixtures, and we predict the trend will continue at Stadio Alberto Braglia in Modena.
