Our prediction for this Championship match:
Aston Villa made a slow start to the season, but the team’s recent form is more than promising. The Villans recorded three wins in previous five league matches and they have been climbing the standings week by week. Steve Bruce’s men are just five points behind the play-offs berth and a win over Cardiff City would certainly give them a confidence boosts ahead of upcoming challenges. The Bluebirds managed to make amends for back-to-back defeats to Wigan Athletic and Newcastle United, with the team beating Huddersfield Town in front of home fans at the weekend, but beating Aston Villa in Birmingham is easier said than done. The Villans seem to be at the top of their game ahead of the visit of Cardiff City and we predict that the hosts are going to pick up all three points from Saturday’s football match at their Villa Park.
Highlighted Player (Micah Richards):
Micah Richards is an English player who began his senior career at Manchester City. The pacey full back, who is capable of playing at centre back as well, made 179 league appearances for the Citizens between 2005 and 2015 and he scored 6 goals for the club. On 17 June, 2015 he signed a four-year deal with Aston Villa, but he did not help the Villans avoid relegation to the Championship. The England defender scored one goal in 24 Premier League appearances for Aston Villa in the 2015/2016 campaign. Micah won the Premier League trophy with Man City in the 2011/2012 season and he lifted the FA Cup trophy in 2011 with the Citizens as well. Richards has 14 caps for England U21 and he received his first ever England call-up for a friendly against Netherlands in November, 2006. Micah Richards was born in Birmngham on 24 June, 1988 and he started his youth career at Leeds United, playing as a striker.
Highlighted Team (Cardiff City):
Cardiff City are a Welsh football club that compete in the English second tier (Championship). In 2009 they moved from Ninian Park to Cardiff City Stadium, the venue that officially holds 33,280 spectators.
The Bluebirds played their first ever Premier League match on 18 August, 2013, but they were beaten by West Ham United (0-2) on their debut in the English top flight. However, a week later Fraizer Campbell (two goals) and Aron Gunnarson helped Cardiff City record their first ever win in the Premier League.
The Bluebirds outplayed Manchester City back then, but they eventually dropped to the Championship at the end of the season. Fellow Welsh outfit Swansea City are considered Cardiff’s fiercest rivals and the two teams take on each other in the South Wales derby.
The colour of Cardiff City’s home kit is blue, whilst they wear red shirts and shorts when playing on the travels.
