Our football match prediction:
Oakwell Stadium will host Saturday’s football match between Barnsley and Preston. The Tykes failed to extend their winning run to three games on Tuesday evening, with the team losing to Wolverhampton (1-3) in front of home fans. Paul Heckingbottom’s troops aim to make amends for the defeat, but beating their next rivals Preston is easier said than done. The Tykes outplayed the Lilywhites in the reverse fixture at the Deepdale Stadium and that is giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of Saturday’s clash. Preston suffered a 2-0 loss to Cardiff City in midweek and, but they still have chances of making it to the Championship play-offs. The Lilywhites are five points behind top six in the standings and we predict that they will go for a win in the Oakwell Stadium clash. A lively contest appears on the horizon and we would not be surprised if both teams find the net on Matchday 30.
Highlighted Player (Adam Davies):
Adam Davies is a German-born footballer who plays for Championship side Barnsley as a goalkeeper. The 185-cm-tall shoot-stopper began his youth career at Everton and in 2012 he signed a contract with Sheffield Wednesday. However, he never managed to make a first-team appearance for the Owls. Due to the lack of first team action, he decided to leave the club in 2014. Adam Davies, who was born in Rinteln, Germany on 17 July, 1992, moved to Barnsley on 13 June, 2014. He made his debut for the club against Crawley Town in the opening match of the 2014/2015 campaign and he quickly established himself as a first-choice goalkeeper. His contract with Barnsley expires on 30 June, 2017, but the deal could be extended for a further year. Adam Davies conceded 82 goals, while keeping 26 clean sheets in 74 appearances for Barnsley in all competitions. During his spell at Everton U23 he managed to keep eight clean sheets in 22 appearances for the club.
Highlighted Team (Preston North End):
Preston North End or Preston were founded in 1880. The Lilywhites or the Invincibles play their home games at Deepdale, the stadium that was built in 1875 and opened three years later. In 1889 Preston won their first FA Cup trophy and they did well to beat Huddersfield Town in the final of the 1938 FA Cup final. However, the club’s biggest success came in 1889 and 1890 when they won back-to-back domestic trophies (First Division). Preston have yet to win the League Cup title, but they were runners-up in 1888, 1922, 1937, 1954, 1964. Preston’s main rivals are Blackpool and the two teams square off against each other in the West Lancashire derby. In their first ever meeting in the West Lancashire derby (1901) Preston recorded a 4-1 win over Blackpool. Burnley and Blackburn Rovers are considered Preston’s big rivals as well. The colour of Preston’s shirts is white and they wear dark blue shorts.
