Our football match prediction:
Brentford and Cardiff City face each other in a six-pointer at Griffin Park. Both teams have been struggling in the first half of the season, meaning that Monday’s football game is of big importance for both sides. Following back-to-back wins over the likes of Burton Albion and Bristol City, Brentford suffered a 1-0 loss to Leeds United at the weekend and a victory over Cardiff City could see them climb to the top half of the Championship table. The Bluebirds head into the Boxing Day clash after a heartbreaking 4-3 defeat to Barnsley and it has to be noted that the Welsh outfit conceded a goal in the dying seconds of the match. Cardiff City are just three points clear of the relegation zone ahead of Matchday 23 and they are desperate to grab something from Monday’s encounter. However, seeing that the Bees are tough to beat at home, we predict that the two teams will share the spoils on Boxing Day.
Highlighted Player (Josh McEachran):
Josh McEachran is a professional football player who was born on 1 March, 1993. The English footballer plays as central midfielder, but he is capable of playing as both attacking and defensive midfielder as well. McEachran is a product of Chelsea youth school, but he made no more than 11 appearances for the senior squad at Stamford Bridge. After spending several seasons on loan at Swansea City, Middlesbrough, Watford, Wigan and Vitesse, he signed a four-year deal with Brentford on 10 July 2015 for an undisclosed fee. Just 15 days later he suffered a fractured foot and, as a result, he was out of contention for three months. McEachran made his Brentford debut on 15 December in a 2-1 win over Reading and he went on to make 14 appearances for the Bees in the 2015/2016 Championship campaign. Josh was born in Kirtlington, Oxfordshire, England, but his parents are Scottish. The Brentford midfielder was in a relationship with English actress Brooke Vincent.
Highlighted Team (Cardiff City):
Cardiff City are a Welsh football club that compete in the English second tier (Championship). In 2009 they moved from Ninian Park to Cardiff City Stadium, the venue that officially holds 33,280 spectators. The Bluebirds played their first ever Premier League match on 18 August, 2013, but they were beaten by West Ham United (0-2) on their debut in the English top flight. However, a week later Fraizer Campbell (two goals) and Aron Gunnarson helped Cardiff City record their first ever win in the Premier League. The Bluebirds outplayed Manchester City back then, but they eventually dropped to the Championship at the end of the season. Fellow Welsh outfit Swansea City are considered Cardiff’s fiercest rivals and the two teams take on each other in the South Wales derby. The colour of Cardiff City’s home kit is blue, whilst they wear red shirts and shorts when playing on the travels.
