Our football match prediction:
Griffin Park will host Saturday’s football match between Brentford and Reading. The Bees aim to escape the relegation zone and it has to be noted that they are eyeing their first win of the season. Coach Dean Smith is under big pressure ahead of the visit of Reading and, one thing is for sure, his men will leave their hearts on the field in order to help the coach keep his job. Brentford head into the match following a 2-1 loss to Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough Stadium. The Royals, on the other hand, recorded a routine 2-0 win at Birmingham City at the weekend and they were not into action in midweek. Jaap Stam’s men did not make a flying start to the season, but Saturday’s clash against Brentford could be the turning point for the visitors. However, given the important of the match for the home side, we predict that the sides are going to play out a draw at Griffin Park.
Highligted Player (Andreas Bjelland):
Andreas Bjelland is a Danish footballer who plays for Brentford. Bjelland plays at centre back and he started his professional career in 2006. After spending three seasons at Lyngby, Bjelland joined yet another Danish outfit Nordsjaelland in 2009 and he went on to make a total of 72 appearances for the Wild Tigers. On 6 November, 2011, Bjelland signed a four-year deal with Twente but he made no more than 14 appearances for the club on his debut season due to injury. After spending six months on the sidelines with a broken metatarsal, Bjelland returned to contention and he came back fit for the 2013/2014 Eredivisie campaign. The Danish defender played in 33 games for Twente in the 2013/2014 season, while making 26 appearances for the club in his last season (2014/2015) at De Grolsch Veste. On 2 July, 2015, the highly rated centre-back joined Championship side Brentford and he has been playing for the Bees ever since. The Danish footballer, though, suffered a groin injury in pre-season and, as a result, he did not make his Brentford debut in the 2015/2016 Championship campaign.
Highlighted Team (Reading):
Reading are a professional football club that play in the Championship. The club was formed in 1871 and Madejski Stadium has been the home of Reading since 1998. The Royals used to play their home games at Elm Park in the past (1896 - 1998). Reading made it to the FA Cup semi-finals on two occasions (1927, 2015), but they have yet to win the prestigious trophy. The likes of Robin Friday, Trevor Senior, Steve Death, Shaka Hislop, Phil Parkinson, Alf Messer, Jimmy Quinn, Michael Gilkes, Ronnie Blackman, Pavel Pogrebnyak and Martin Hicks are some of their more notable footballers. Aldershot Town were considered Reading’s fiercest rivals, but the Shots went out of business in 1992. Seeing that Aldershot rejoined the league in 2008 it remains to be seen if the rivalry is going to be re-established in near future. Swindon Town and Oxford United are considered Reading’s big rivals as well.
