Our prediction for this Championship match:
Fulham and Newcastle United face each other in the opening match of the 2016/2017 Championship campaign. Both teams aim to make a flying start to the season, but it remains to be seen who will have a reason for celebration on Friday night. Fulham finished the 2015/2016 season in 20th place in the standings and they are certainly eager to make amends for the unsuccessful campaign. Newcastle failed to impress in the English top flight last season and, as a result, they will compete in the Championship this season. The Magpies have been producing fine displays in recent warm-up games and they will be looking to extend their winning run to four games when they take on Fulham in the opening match of the 2016/2017 Championship campaign. Coach Rafael Benitez has a number of top-class players to choose from and we predict that the visitors are going to pick up all three points from Friday’s football game at Craven Cottage.
Highlighted Player (Jazz Richards):
Ashley Darel Jazz Richards is a Cardiff City footballer who can play as both full back and midfielder. Richards was born in Swansea, Wales on 12 April 1991 and he started his senior career in his home town. He made 39 appearances for Swansea City and after spending several seasons on loan at Crystal Palace, Huddersfield Town and Fulham, the Wales international signed a permanent deal with the Cottagers on 24 January, 2015. Richards played 22 league games for Fulham and on 19 July, 2016 he went on to join Cardiff City. He signed a three-year contract with the Bluebirds and was part of the swap which saw Scott Malone move to Craven Cottage. Jazz Richards has 15 caps for Wales U-21 team and he made his debut for the Wales national team on 27 May, 2012 in a 2-0 defeat to Mexico. It has to be noted that Richards is capable of operating as both left-back and right-back.
Highlighted Team (Fulham):
Fulham are a club from London that play in the Premier League. The capital club dropped to the English second tier at the end of the 2013/2014 Premier League campaign after failing to impress in the elite competition, but managed to return in season 2018/2019.
Fulham were founded in 1879 and they play their home matches at Craven Cottage. Fulham are the oldest-established club from the English capital to have played in the top flight.
Fulham finished the 2008/2009 Premier League campaign in seventh place in the standings and that is considered the team’s biggest success, speaking of their participation in the Premier League.
The Cottagers played in the Europa League twice and they did well to reach the FA Cup final in 1975, but they were beaten by their local rivals West Ham United in the title game (0-2). Chelsea are regarded as Fulham’s bitter rivals as well and the two teams take on each other in the North London derby.
