Our match prediction:
Newcastle United will be looking to record their first win of the season when they host Reading at their St. James’ Park on Wednesday evening. The Magpies have been struggling under Rafa Benitez of late, but the game against the Royals could be the turning point for the St. James’ Park outfit. Newcastle United have no other choice but to go all guns blazing at Reading and we predict that the hosts are going to leave their hearts on the field in order to pick up all three points from Wednesday’s football match. The Royals defeated Preston at their Madejski Stadium on day 1, but they were beaten by Wolves on the road at the weekend. Considering that Reading struggle on the travels, we believe that Newcastle United are going to put an end to their two-game losing run in the Championship. Ayoze Perez should be recalled to the starting line-up after he came as a substitute in the 2-1 loss to Huddersfield.
Highligted Player (Jack Colback):
After spending nine years at Sunderland youth academy, Jack Colback signed a loan deal with Ipswich Town on 6 August, 2009. The left-footed midfielder, who is capable of playing at left back as well, made 37 appearances for the Championship side, scoring four goals in the English second tier. Against all odds, Colback decided to sign for Sunderland’s bitterest rivals Newcastle United on 9 June, 2014 and it has to be noted he became the first player to move directly from Sunderland to Newcastle since 1998 when Lionel Perez did the same. In 2015 Sunderland fans created a sick banner depicting Colback hanging with a noose around his neck and that caused uproar on social media. Colback and his teammates from Newcastle dropped to the Championship at the end of the 2015/2016 season, but he decided not to leave the club. Colback scored 5 goals in 64 appearances for Newcastle United in the Premier League. He is well known for his passing skills, he rarely gives the ball away and journalist often compare him with Italy ace Andrea Pirlo.
Highlighted Team (Reading):
Reading are a professional football club that play in the Championship. The club was formed in 1871 and Madejski Stadium has been the home of Reading since 1998. The Royals used to play their home games at Elm Park in the past (1896 - 1998). Reading made it to the FA Cup semi-finals on two occasions (1927, 2015), but they have yet to win the prestigious trophy. The likes of Robin Friday, Trevor Senior, Steve Death, Shaka Hislop, Phil Parkinson, Alf Messer, Jimmy Quinn, Michael Gilkes, Ronnie Blackman, Pavel Pogrebnyak and Martin Hicks are some of their more notable footballers. Aldershot Town were considered Reading’s fiercest rivals, but the Shots went out of business in 1992. Seeing that Aldershot rejoined the league in 2008 it remains to be seen if the rivalry is going to be re-established in near future. Swindon Town and Oxford United are considered Reading’s big rivals as well.
