Our football match prediction:
Newcastle United do not seem to be on top of their game at the moment. The Magpies are on a three-game winless run in the Championship and they dropped two points in a goalless draw with Birmingham City. Rafael Benitez’s troops, though, are still leading the standings and they will be looking to retain top position in the table with a victory over Wigan Athletic. Newcastle United failed to beat the likes of Bristol City and Fulham in previous two home fixtures, but we predict that they will defeated the Latics at their St. James’ Park. Following a 1-0 win over Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic suffered back-to-back defeats to the likes of Bristol City and Aston Villa and they are unlikely to spoil Newcastle’s party in Saturday’s football match. Dwight Gayle has netted 21 goals in 28 league appearances this season and he is likely to lead the attack for the hosts against Wigan.
Highlighted Player (Jack Colback):
After spending nine years at Sunderland youth academy, Jack Colback signed a loan deal with Ipswich Town on 6 August, 2009. The left-footed midfielder, who is capable of playing at left back as well, made 37 appearances for the Championship side, scoring four goals in the English second tier. Against all odds, Colback decided to sign for Sunderland’s bitterest rivals Newcastle United on 9 June, 2014 and it has to be noted he became the first player to move directly from Sunderland to Newcastle since 1998 when Lionel Perez did the same. In 2015 Sunderland fans created a sick banner depicting Colback hanging with a noose around his neck and that caused uproar on social media. Colback and his teammates from Newcastle dropped to the Championship at the end of the 2015/2016 season, but he decided not to leave the club. Colback scored 5 goals in 64 appearances for Newcastle United in the Premier League. He is well known for his passing skills, he rarely gives the ball away and journalist often compare him with Italy ace Andrea Pirlo.
Highlighted Team (Wigan Athletic):
Wigan Athletic are one of the winners of the English FA Cup. The Latics won the prestigious trophy in 2013, with the team upsetting Manchester City in the title game. This is considered the club’s biggest success, but it has to be noted that Wigan played in the UEFA Europa League in the 2013/2014 season. Wigan have been playing their home games at the DW Stadium since 1999 and they had played at Springfield Park in the past. Chorley are considered Wigan’s fierce rivals, but the two teams last met in 1971, when they competed in the Northern Premier League. The likes of Preston North End, Bury, Oldham Athletic, Burnley and Blackburn Rovers are regarded as Wigan Athletic’s rivals as well. The club was founded in 1932 and they competed in the English Premier League from 2005 to 2013. The colour of Wigan’s home kit is blue and white (stripes).
