Our match prediction:
Against all odds, Fulham defeated star-studded Newcastle United in the opening game of the new Championship campaign. The Cottagers proved their worth against the Magpies and fans certainly have faith in Serbian tactician Slavisa Jokanovic. However, the lack of high-profile players might prove to be a big problem for the capital club in the upcoming matches and we do not believe that the visitors are capable of picking up all three points from Saturday’s football match against Preston. The Lilywhites are tough to beat at their Deepdale Stadium and we predict that they are going to make life difficult for the Cottagers in front of home fans. Under 2.5 goals were scored in three of last four meetings between the two teams in the Championship, meaning that a low-scoring affair is on the cards. Matt Smith scored the winner against Newcastle, meaning that the opposition defenders should keep him at bay.
Highligted Player (Chris Humphrey):
Christopher Charles Humphrey was born in Saint Catherine, Jamaica on 19 September, 1987. The pacey winger, who is capable of playing as a wing back as well, began his senior career at Shrewsbury Town and he made 74 league appearances for the club between 2006 and 2009. The Jamaica international played four games for Stafford Rangers during his loan spell at Marston Road and in July, 2009 he signed a deal with Scottish Premier League team Motherwell. He made his Motherwell debut on 23 July, 2009 as he started in the Europa League qualifier against Flamurtari Vlore. After making 132 league appearances for the Scottish outfit, he joined Preston North End in June, 2013 and he extended his contract with the Championship team in June, 2015. Humphrey was linked with selection for the Scotland national team, but he decided to play for Jamaica. He made his debut for the Reggae Boyz in 2012 in a 1-0 loss to Panama.
Highlighted Team (Fulham):
Fulham are a club from London that play in the Championship. The capital club dropped to the English second tier at the end of the 2013/2014 Premier League campaign after failing to impress in the elite competition. Fulham were founded in 1879 and they play their home matches at Craven Cottage. Fulham are the oldest-established club from the English capital to have played in the top flight. Fulham finished the 2008/2009 Premier League campaign in seventh place in the standings and that is considered the team’s biggest success, speaking of their participation in the Premier League. The Cottagers played in the Europa League twice and they did well to reach the FA Cup final in 1975, but they were beaten by their local rivals West Ham United in the title game (0-2). Chelsea are regarded as Fulham’s bitter rivals as well and the two teams take on each other in the North London derby.
