Our football match prediction:
Deepdale Stadium will host Monday’s football game between Preston and Middlesbrough, the two teams who are eyeing a place in the Championship play-offs. Preston produced a splendid performance against Cardiff City at the weekend and they totally deserved to pick up all three points from the match. The Lilywhites have been impressive at the back of late and they are likely to rely on their rock-solid defence against Middlesbrough. Alex Neil’s men aim to climb to the play-offs berth in the Championship standings and they are definitely capable of beating the Boro in front of home fans. Tony Pulis’ charges suffered a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa in their last league fixture and we predict that they are going to return home empty-handed. The two teams played out a goalless draw at Riverside Stadium earlier this term, but we are tempted to put our money on the Lilywhites this time out.
Highlighted Player (Tom Clarke):
Tom Clarke is a defender who plays for Preston North End. He used to play for Huddersfield Town, Halifax (loan), Bradford City (loan) and Leyton Orient (loan) in the past and in May, 2013 he joined the Lilywhites. On 5 August, 2013 Clarke scored the winner for Preston against Blackpool and it has to be noted that it was his only second appearance for the club. Tom is Nathan Clarke’s brother and his main position is centre back. However, the Preston footballer is capable of playing as both left and right back as well. Tom Clarke played for England U18 and U19 teams and he scored one goal for the national team at international youth level. Clarke won Football League One play-offs on two occasions. He did it with Huddersfield Town in 2012 and with Preston in 2015. He made 35 appearances for the Lilywhites in the 2015/2016 Championship campaign, but he failed to find the net.
Highlighted Team (Middlesbrough):
Middlesbrough are a professional football club that have been balancing between the top two divisions of England’s league system in the modern history. Boro have been playing their home games at the Riverside Stadium since 1995 and their shirt colour is red. The capacity of the Riverside Stadium is 34,742. Middlesbrough impressed in the 2015/2016 Championship campaign and they did really well to secure promotion to the English top flight. Newcastle United and Sunderland are regarded as the club’s main rivals, but there is a rivalry with Leeds United as well. Middlesbrough made it to the FA Cup final in 1997, but Chelsea proved to be a big catch for the Boro in the title game (0-2). However, the Riverside Stadium outfit did remarkably well to win the League Cup trophy in 2004, with the team beating Bolton Wanderers in the final. George Boateng, Stewart Downing, Juninho Paulista, Gareth Southgate, Jonathan Woodgate, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Tuncay Sanli and Hamilton Ricard are the star footballers who left their mark at Middlesbrough.
