Our prediction for this Championship match:
Brentford will be aiming to keep their automatic promotion hopes alive when they face Reading at Madejski Stadium. The Bees are eyeing their fourth consecutive win in the Championship, and it is no wonder bookies see them as favourites to pick up all three points from the match. Olie Watkins, who scored the winner against WBA, will be the man to watch in the away team.
Even though Canos and Karelis miss the game with injury, we believe that away win should be considered. The Royals, on the other hand, aim to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to Derby County, but seeing that they have little to play for in the season finale, we are tempted to put our money on the promotion-chasing side. The likes of Joao, Yiadom, and Barrow are all out of contention through injury for the hosts.
Highlighted Player (Sam Baldock):
Sam Baldock is an English footballer who plays as a striker for Brighton. Baldock was born in Buckingham, England on 15 March 1989 and he began his senior career at Milton Keynes Dons. After spending six years at Stadium mk, Baldock signed a four-year contract with West Ham United on 26 August, 2011.
However, after failing to impress in the 2011/2012 campaign, he was sold to Bristol City at the end of the season. Sam Baldock scored 34 goals in 83 appearances for the club and in 2014 he joined his current club Brighton. The English attacker signed for the Seagulls for an undisclosed fee, which was believed to be in the region of £2m.
Sam Baldock has a contract with Brighton, which expiries on 30 June, 2018. It has to be noted that he represented England at the 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup in Egypt. His main position is centre forward, but he is capable of playing at both left and right back as well.
Highlighted Team (Brentford):
Based in London, Brentford compete in the Championship and they were founded in 1898. Griffin Park has been the home ground of the club since 1904 and the capacity of the venue is 12,300.
The Bees have yet to play in the Premier League and it has to be noted that they made it to the FA Cup sixth round on four occasions (1937/1938, 1945/1946,1948/1949, 1988/1989). Brentford played in the League Cup round 4 in the 1982/1983 and 2010/2011 season and that is the club’s biggest success in the competition.
Brentford’s main rivals are Fulham and Queens Park Rangers and they take on each other in the West London Derby. The rivalry with the Cottagers is probably the biggest and you should bear in mind that the clashes between the two teams have their history of crowd violence. The colour of Brentford’s shirts is red and white and they wear black shorts.
