Our prediction for this Championship match:
Stoke City play host to Wigan Athletic at their Bet365 Stadium on Wednesday evening. The Potters are eager to record their first win of the season, but the game against the Latics will be anything but a walk in the park for the hosts. Peter Crouch opened his goal-scoring account in a 2-2 draw with Preston at the weekend, meaning that the opposition defenders should have him at bay. Wigan Athletic have been having their ups and downs at the start of the season and it is more than obvious that they produce much better showings at home than on the travels. The Potters want this win more than the Latics and that is the main reason why we are tempted to put our money on the hosts. It has to be noted, though, that Stoke City failed to beat Wigan Athletic in previous eight meetings between the two sides in all competitions.

Highlighted Player (Benik Afobe):

Benik Afobe is a 183-cm-tall striker who plays for Bournemouth. Afobe is a product of Arsenal youth academy, but he did not make his first-team debut with the Gunners. After spending several seasons on loan at Huddersfield Town, Reading, Bolton, Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday and Milton Keynes Dons, Afobe signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Wolverhampton on 14 January, 2015.
The pacey attacker scored 22 goals in 46 appearances for Wolves and, as a result, Bournmouth chiefs decided to sign him on 10 January, 2016. Benik scored 4 goals in 12 appearances for the Cherries in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign and, no doubt, he helped the team secure the top flight survival.
It has to be noted that Afobe won the UEFA European Under-17 Championship with England back in 2010. The former Wolves attacker was born in Leyton, England on 12 February, 1993. Benik Afobe is capable of playing as a secondary striker as well.
Highlighted Team (Wigan Athletic):

Wigan Athletic are one of the winners of the English FA Cup. The Latics won the prestigious trophy in 2013, with the team upsetting Manchester City in the title game. This is considered the club’s biggest success, but it has to be noted that Wigan played in the UEFA Europa League in the 2013/2014 season.
Wigan have been playing their home games at the DW Stadium since 1999 and they had played at Springfield Park in the past. Chorley are considered Wigan’s fierce rivals, but the two teams last met in 1971, when they competed in the Northern Premier League. The likes of Preston North End, Bury, Oldham Athletic, Burnley and Blackburn Rovers are regarded as Wigan Athletic’s rivals as well.
The club was founded in 1932 and they competed in the English Premier League from 2005 to 2013. The colour of Wigan’s home kit is blue and white (stripes).
