Our prediction for this Championship match:
Wigan Athletic will be looking to put an end to their five-game winless run in the Championship when they host Blackburn Rovers at the DW Stadium on Wednesday evening. Following four consecutive defeats in the Championship, the Latics played out a goalless draw with Reading in their last league match. Wigan Athletic sit in the danger zone in the standings ahead of the midweek fixture, but this game could be the turning point for the DW Stadium outfit. You should bear in mind that Wigan are eyeing their sixth home win of the season. The Riversiders, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 4-1 loss to Preston at Deepdale Stadium, therefore, we do not believe that they are capable of grabbing something from Wednesday’s football game. In their last meeting in Wigan in the Championship the hosts emerged triumphant.

Highlighted Player (Callum McManaman):

A Merseyside-born winger, Callum McManaman made his first football steps over at Goodison before getting released by Everton in 2007. As a youth player he moved on to join Wigan Athletic where he was handed his professional debut in 2009.
McManaman made an instant impression at his club earning a man of the Match title in the FA Cup final against Manchester City in 2013. Having led his club to their first-ever FA Cup title, McManaman went on to amass 109 appearances for Wigan across all competitions and score 17 goals.
A two-year stint at West Bromwich Albion turned into a proper disappointment for Callum McManaman who also went on to represent Sheffield Wednesday in a brief loan spell and played the total of 24 matches for Sunderland in the 2017/18 season. Wigan Athletic re-signed the winger in the summer of 2018 hoping to latch on a special connection the player has with the club and the fans.
Highlighted Team (Blackburn Rovers):

Blackburn Rovers have been trying to return to the Premier League ever since they dropped to the Championship in 2012. The Riversiders compete in the English second tier and they play their home games at Ewood Park. Blackburn were founded back in 1875 and they are one of the founding members of the Football League (1888).
Burnley are considered Blackburn’s main rivals and the two teams square off against each other in the East Lancashire derby. It has to be noted that Blackburn Burnley 7-1 in their first ever meeting in the East Lancashire Derby on 3 November, 1888. The Riversiders have won three First Division (Premier League) trophies (1911/1912, 1913/1914, 1994/1995).
Blackburn Rovers have clinched six FA Cup titles as well. Speaking of the club’s European success, the Riversiders won the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2007. The colour of Blackburn’s home kit is blue and white.
