Our match prediction:
One of the most exciting matches of UEFA Champions League group stage Round 2 will be played in Dortmund with Thomas Tuchel’s high-fliers BVB playing host to reigning European champions Real Madrid. Borussia Dortmund are heading into the highly anticipated clash with Los Blancos on the back on four consecutive wins during which they scored 20 goals and allowed only one. Tuchel’s team is in raging form, but will be dealt with a couple of injuries to first-team players which could ultimately be of influence to the game. On the other side, Real Madrid travel to Germany with a huge load on their shoulders following back-to-back draws with Villarreal and Las Palmas, respectively. It has been a frustrating week for Los Blancos who are feeling the heat ahead of the game with highly respected team. Possible defeat would send shockwaves through the royal club and Zinedine Zidane is under huge pressure to deliver. We are not quite sure that he will be able to defeat the in-form Dortmund, but we feel confident to predict a highly entertaining clash between two great sides.
Highligted Player (Piszczek):
Born on 3rd June 1985, Lukasz Piszczek is one of Poland’s most famous footballers at the moment, having made a name for himself thanks to some impressive performances for Borussia Dortmund. The full-back’s talent was spotted early on by Hertha scouts, and it is important to note that he began his career as a striker, winning the top goalscorer award at the Under-19 Euro in 2004. Following some excellent displays at said tournament, Piszczek was signed by Hertha, but he would go on to spend next three years on loan at Zaglebie Lubin. After returning to the club, the Polish footballer played on the left wing, but then switched to right-back as Arne Friedrich got injured and has played there ever since. In May 2010, Piszczek signed for Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer and has since developed into one of world’s leading right-sided defenders, sparking interest from clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United. The full-back made over 45 appearances for the national team since he was handed his debut in 2007, representing his country at three successive European Championship finals.
Highlighted Team (Real Madrid):
Real Madrid are a Spanish football club based in Madrid. Real Madrid participate in La Liga (Primera Division) and they have won 32 domestic titles. On the other hand, los Blancos have won 11 European Cup titles and that is the main reason why they are considered the biggest football club in the world. Real Madrid play their home matches at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and the capacity of the stadium is 84,454. Cristiano Ronaldo is the club’s most successful footballer in the 21st century and the Portuguese superstar has won two Golden Ball awards. The likes of Alfredo Di Stefano, Zinedine Zidane, Raul Gonzalez Blanco, David Beckham and Iker Casillas are star players who were part of the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu outfit in the past. Real Madrid’s bitterest rivals are Barcelona, but the rivalry between local rivals Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid is big as well. Real Madrid’s home kit is white and, as a result, the team’s nickname is los Blancos (the Whites).
