Our prediction for this Champions League match:
Wednesday’s Champions League game at Groupama Arena pits together Ferencvaros and Dynamo Kiev. The Hungarian champions suffered a heavy 5-1 loss to Barcelona in their Champions League opener, but they are surely capable of making life difficult for the Ukrainian outfit at home ground. Ferencvaros recorded a routine 2-0 win over Ujpest in their last league match, which is surely giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of the visit of Dynamo Kiev.
The Ukrainians suffered a 2-0 loss to Ronaldo-less Juventus in their opener, and seeing that they are not regarded as good travellers, we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw. A man to watch in the away team will be pacey winger Viktor Tsygankov, who is likely to prove a handful for the opposition defenders. Dynamo Kiev defenders, on the other hand, should have Norway international Tokmac Chol Nguen, who has been scoring goals for fun this season.
Highlighted Player (Julian Brandt):
Julian Brandt is one of the most promising wingers in Germany. He started playing football in his hometown, Bremen, at SC Borgfeld, moving to FC Oberneuland, after which he joined VLF Wolfsburg’s youth academy. With 27 goals in his 48 games during two seasons with the Wolves, Brandt recommended himself to Bayer 04 Leverkusen, signing a five-and-a-half-year contract in January 2014.
The 22-year-old winger prefers to play on the left flank, but he can also provide help on the right side, as well as an attacking midfielder. During the season 2015/2016, Julian Brandt netted goals in six consecutive games, becoming the youngest player since Gerd Muller to achieve this.
The good performances in the season made Joackim Low call the youngster in Germany’s preliminary 27-man squad for the Euro 2016 and he made his first appearance for the senior squad in May 2016, against Slovakia. He was a part of the Germany squad at the Summer Olympics, where Brandt and his teammates won the silver medal. In the summer of 2018, Julian Brandt made the World Cup team.
Highlighted Team (Zenit):
Zenit Saint Petersburg are a Russian football club that was founded by workers of Leningrad Metal Plant in 1925. Over the years the Zenitchiki have established themselves as one of the dominant forces in Russian football, but they won their first domestic trophy in 1984.
Zenit have been impressive in the national championship in the 21st century, winning four league titles, while clinching two Russian Cups (2010, 2016). The Zenitchiki are a regular participant of the Champions League group stages and in 2008 they did well to win the UEFA Cup. The Russian outfit defeated Glasgow Rangers (2-0) in the title game, with Denisov and Zyryanov both finding the net in the final of the competition.
Zenit play their home games at Krestovsky Stadium, the venue that was opened in 2016. Gazprom are the club’s main sponsors and the colour of their home shirts is white-sky blue. Brazilian ace Hulk is probably the most notable footballer who played for Zenit.
