Our football match prediction:
David faces Goliath at Stamford Bridge in the opening match of the 2017/2018 Champions League campaign. Premier League winners Chelsea take on Qarabag of Azerbaijan and the Blues are widely expected to pick up all three points from Tuesday’s football match. Coach Antonio Conte is unlikely to count on key attacker Diego Costa, who was eager to leave the club in the summer transfer window, but new signing Alvaro Morata is likely to prove a handful for the opposition defenders. Chelsea are a real force to be reckoned with at home and seeing that important midfielder Eden Hazard has overcome his injury, we predict that the Premier League side will emerge triumphant in their opener. Qarabag aim to impress on their Champions League debut, but grabbing something from the match against the star-studded Blues is easier said than done. Taking everything into account, the Azeri are unlikely to spoil Chelsea’s party at Stamford Bridge.
Highlighted Player (Willian):
Willian is a Brazilian football player who was born on 9 August, 1988 in Ribeirao Pires. After playing for Corinthians in the 2006/2007 season, in 2007 he joined Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk. The pacey winger won four Ukrainian Premier League trophies with the Miners, while clinching the UEFA Cup title in 2009 as well. During his spell with Shakhtar, Willian was on Chelsea’s radar and in 2013 the chiefs of the Premier League club agreed a deal to sign the Brazilian ace for a fee of £30 million. Willian won the Premier League trophy with Chelsea in the 2014/2015 season and the following season he was named Chelsea Player of the year. The 30-year-old winger has 38 caps for Brazil and he has netted six goals for the national team. Speaking of his personal life, Willian is married to Vanessa Martins, who gave birth to their twin daughters Valentina and Manuella.
Highlighted Team (Qarabag):
Over the years Qarabag have established themselves as one of the best teams in Azerbaijan. The club was founded in 1951 and they were playing under the name of Mehsul back then. Qarabag won their first trophy in the national championship in 1993, beating Khazar Sumgayit in the title game. In the 2015/2016 season they won their fourth domestic trophy, with the team finishing the season 22 points clear of second-placed Zira. Qarabag participated in the 2016/2017 Champions League qualifiers, but they were more than unfortunate to suffer a loss to Viktoria Plzen in the two-legged tie. The Azerbaijan outfit were beaten by the Czechs on away goal rule and, as a result, they made it to the Europa League playoffs. Thanks to a win over Goteborg in the double-header Qarabag made it to the knockout stages of the competition. The Horsemen play their home games at Azersun Arena and their home colours are black. Qarabag play their away games in white kits.
