Our prediction for this Champions League match:
A place in the Champions League quarter-finals will be at stake when Chelsea and Bayern Munchen face each other in the two-legged tie. The Blues are undefeated in the previous five games in the Champions League, but Bayern Munchen are likely to pose a much bigger threat for Frank Lampard’s troops than their previous rivals. Christian Pulisic and Ngolo Kante are rated doubtful for the game, but key attacker Abraham should be fit to play against FCB.
The German giants have been producing excellent displays ever since Hans-Dieter Flick took over the reins, but beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge is easier said than done. A close encounter is on the cards in the first leg, and we believe that punters can find value in betting on draw. A man to watch in the away team will be Champions League top scorer Robert Lewandowski.
Highlighted Player (Christian Pulisic):
Christian Pulisic is an American professional footballer who plays in the English Premier League with Chelsea. He then went on to feature for Michigan Rush and PA classics before being recruited by Bundesliga outfit Borrusia Dortmund in February 2015.
Impressed with the rate of his progression at their academy, BVB integrated the teenager into their first team over the winter break. On the 30th of January, 2015, Pulisic made his professional debut at the age of 17, coming on as a substitute in Dortmund's 2-0 home win against Ingolstadt in the league. Highlighted Team (Bayern Munich):
Over the years Bayern Munich have established themselves as one of the most successful European clubs. The Stern des Sudens (Star of the South) are the dominant force in German football and it has to be noted that the Bavarians clinched their 26th Bundesliga title in 2016. Bayern Munich have won 18 German Cup trophies, while winning the Champions League (European Cup) five times.
The German giants clinched the Intercontinental Cup in 1976 and 2001, while lifting the FIFA Club World Cup trophy in 2013. Bayern Munich was founded in 1900 by eleven football players and their leader was Franz John. The Bavarians host their rivals at Allianz Arena (75,000), the stadium that was built in 2005.
Fellow Bavarian sides TSV 1860 Munchen 1860 and Nurnberg are regarded as Bayern Munich’s fiercest rivals, but the rivalry between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern is big as well. The likes of Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Franz Beckenbauer, Lothar Matthaus, Oliver Kahn, Gerd Muller and Giovane Elber are famous footballers who played for Bayern Munich in the past.
