Our prediction for this Champions League match:
A place in the Champions League knockout stages will be at stake when CSKA Moscow and Bayer Leverkusen face each other on Tuesday evening. The Russian outfit are eyeing their first win in the Champions League group stages, but a triumph over Bayer would see them rejoin the race for a place in the next phase. CSKA head into the match following a hard-fought 1-0 win over Arsenal Tula and they will be looking to build on the victory when they host Roger Schmidt’s team at their Stadion PFK CSKA. The German team suffered a 3-2 loss to Leipzig at the weekend, but it has to be noted that they recorded four wins in previous five games in all competitions. Bayer Leverkusen have been in a much better form of late than CSKA and we predict that the visitors are going to pick up all three points from Tuesday’s football match.
Highlighted Player (Mario Fernandes):
Brazilian defender Mario Fernandes is a right-back by trade, but the 25-year-old South American can also play at centre-back. It is exactly his versatility that makes him a player of significant quality. Mario Fernandes signed for CSKA Moscow in 2012 from Gremio and during his time in Russia he has already surpassed the 100-game mark for the Armeitsy who faced plenty of pressure to sell their prized asset in 2015 with Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Manchester United and Barcelona all believed to be interested in a played dubbed the new Lucio.
No stranger to controversy, Mario Fernandes hit headlines for all the wrong reasons on a couple of occasions during his career. Most recent one was a 2015 Champions League qualifiers when his screaming and faking an injury was called an important “theatre piece” by the Russian media.
