Our prediction for this Champions League match:
Olympique Lyon and Shakhtar Donetsk face each other at Groupama Stadium in what is expected to be one of the most entertaining games of Tuesday’s program. Lyon did well to beat Manchester City at Etihad Stadium in their opener and that is the main reason why they are seen as favourites to win their second group game. A man to watch in the home team will be former Man Utd attacker Memphis Depay and the pacey Dutchman is likely to pose a big threat for the opposition back-line. The Miners, on the other hand, played out a 2-2 draw with Hoffenheim in the opening match of their Champions League campaign, but they will have a bigger fish to fry in Tuesday’s clash against Lyon. A lively contest is on the horizon, but we believe that the hosts are closer to picking up all three points from the game than the visitors.
Highlighted Player (Bertrand Traore):
Bertrand Traore is a pacey left-footed winger who plays for Ajax on loan from Chelsea. The Burkina Faso footballers scored 17 goals in 48 league appearances for Vitesse before joining Ajax on 12 August, 2016. Traore made his Ajax debut in a 2-2 draw with Roda, coming as a substitute in the second half of the game.
He made his Champions League debut for the Amsterdammers against Rostov on August, 2016. Bertrand, though, is still a Chelsea player and his contract with the Stamford Bridge outfit expires on 30 June, 2019. Traore a winger, but he is capable of playing as a centre forward as well.
The Burkina Faso footballer was born on 6 September, 1995 and he made his debut for the Burkina Faso national team on 3 September, 2011 in a friendly game against Equatorial Guinea. The same year he won the Africa under 17 championship with Burkina Faso as the Stallions defeated Rwanda in the final of the tournament.
Highlighted Team (Shakhtar Donetsk):
Despite the fact that they were founded back in 1936, Shakhtar Donetsk were struggling to win the Ukrainian Premier League trophy until 2002. The Miners have established themselves as the dominant force in Ukrainian football and it has to be noted that they won their ninth domestic trophy in 2014.
Shakhtar Donetsk were playing at Donbass Arena in the past, but due to war in Donbass the club temporarily moved to Arena Lviv. In 2009 the Miners won the UEFA Cup trophy under Romanian boss Mircea Lucescu, beating Werder Bremen in the title game. Croatian full back Dario Srna was named the man of the match. Dynamo Kiev are considered Shakhtar Donetsk’s main rivals and there have always been fireworks in meetings between the two sides.
Shakhtar have a rivalry with Metalurh Donetsk as well and the two local rivals face each other in the Donetsk Derby. Chelsea ace Willian, Manchester United star Mkhitaryan and Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho all played for Shakhtar in the past.
