Our prediction for this Champions League match:
As expected, Sporting recorded a 2-0 win over out-of-sorts Legia and thanks to the triumph the Portuguese outfit stayed in the race for a place in the last 16. Jorge Jesus’ team proved their worth in the victory over Legia, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in Tuesday’s football match against Borussia Dortmund. Sporting need to grab something from games against the Millionaires and Real Madrid if they are to advance to the knockout stages of the elite competition and seeing that they are a real force to be reckoned with at home, we predict that the lions will pick up one point from their third group game. Borussia Dortmund head into the match with a severely-weakened squad and, no doubt, the Bundesliga team will adopt a cautious approach in Tuesday’s clash. In Marco Reus’ absence, a man to watch in the away team will be top scorer Aubameyang.
Highlighted Player (Joel Campbell):
Joel Campbell is a highly rated 23-year-old versatile forward who plays for the English Premier League club Arsenal and the Costa Rica national team. His versatility has seen him operating as a forward or on the wings. Campbell often hogs the headlines with his fast-paced runs on the wings and breathtaking goals. He was highly rated by Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger and was snapped up as a teenager in 2011 but spent his first three seasons at the club on loan at three different clubs. His competitive debut at Arsenal came only in 2014 but has become a regular with the national squad. He has earned 55 caps already and has 11 goals to his credit in national colors. He has already played in CONCACAF Gold Cup and Copa America. But it is his success as a key member of the 2014 FIFA World Cup quarter-final reaching squad that is a highlight of his career so far.
Highlighted Team (Borussia Dortmund):
1909 by eighteen footballers from Dortmund. Die Schwarzgelben (The Black and Yellows) play their home games at Signal Iduna Park, but the stadium’s original name is Westfalenstadion. The capacity of Borussia’s home ground is 81,539 and it has to be noted that the stadium was opened in 1974. BVB have the highest average attendance in the world of football.
Borussia Dortmund have won eight Bundesliga trophies, while clinching the German Cup title three times.
However, the club’s biggest success came in 1997 when they outplayed Juventus in the Champions League final. Karl-Heinz Riedle scored a brace for BVB in the 3-1 win over Juve, with Lars Ricken finding the net in the title game as well. Borussia’s biggest rivals are Schalke 04 and the two teams square off against each other in the Revierderby.
