Our football match prediction:
A long trip to the Faroes Islands is in front of the Kosovo side Trepca 89, who make their debut appearance in the UEFA Champions League qualification. Kosovo was granted UEFA membership in May 2016 and this will be the first-ever time that a side from a newly-independent state will take part in the elite competition. Vikingur saw their nine-match unbeaten run come to an end earlier in June as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of NSI Runavik, and it is clear that Samal Erik Hentze’s men are already thinking about their European challenge. Should they manage to eliminate the competition’s newbies, the Faroe Islands champions will meet Icelandic champions Harnarfjordur in the second round. Kosovo champions finished the Superliga season with a 3-0 win over last-season’s champions Ferronikeli, who were not granted a UEFA licence for last season’s European competition. Trepca 89 warmed up for the trip to the Faroe Islands with a club friendly against Romanian side Astra and will be buoyed by their 4-2 triumph.
