Our football match prediction:
Stadion Pod Dubnom will host Wednesday’s football match between Zilina and Copenhagen. The Danish champions participated in the Champions League group stages last season and it has to be noted that they suffered no more than one defeat in the process. However, despite defeating Club Brugge in their final group game, Copenhagen eventually failed to make it to the knockout stages. Anyhow, Stale Solbakken’s troops proved their worth in the elite competition and it is no surprise they are regarded as favourites in the two-legged tie against Zilina. The visitors are likely to adopt a cautious approach in the first leg and seeing that the Slovaks are tough to beat at home, we predict that under 2.5 goals will be scored in the first leg. It has to be noted that the two teams meet for the first time ever in a competitive match.
Highlighted Player (Mathias Jorgensen):
Son to a Danish mother and a Gambian father, Mathias Jorgensen is a 26-year-old centre back who started his career with F.C. Copenhagen in 2007. During his first spell with the Danish powerhouse, Jorgensen struggled with injuries that hampered his early career with Copenhagen, but the powerful defender succeeded in becoming an important first-team player for the club earning the captain’s armband in 2011. Five year after his senior debut with the club, Jorgensen moved to Dutch side PSV Eindhoven where he struggled for playing time in the first team and ended up playing only 14 matches over the course of two years. Zenka, as he is commonly referred to in Denmark with his nickname originating from the movie Cool Runnings, returned to Copenhagen in 2014 and has so far featured in over 65 league matches for the club. Mathias Jorgensen moved through all youth ranks of the Denmark national team and was given his first full senior cap in 2008.
Highlighted Team (FC Copenhagen):
The most successful club in the history of Danish football F.C. Kopenhagen was founded in 1992, through the merger of 15-time Danish champions Kjobenhavns Boldklub and seven-time champions of Denmark Boldklubben 1903. Football Club Copenhagen play their matches at the Telia Parken, a venue that can host 38,000 spectators. The Team of the City as Copenhagen is called in Denmark has won the Danish football championship eleven times, while it has also won the Danish Cup on seven occasions. The club forms great rivalry with Copenhagen’s suburban club Brondby IF with games between the two club attracting some of the biggest crowds in Danish football history in this so called New Firm derby. Through its history F.C. Copenhagen have participated in the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Champions League, while their major European accomplishments have been achieved in the Royal League, with the Danish powerhouse winning two titles and coming as runners-up on one occasion.
