Our prediction for this Copa del Rey match:
After holding Celta Vigo to a 2-2 draw at Abanca Balaidos, Mallorca will be looking to kick off their Copa del Rey campaign in a great manner when they face El Alamo at Estadio Facundo Rivas on Wednesday evening. Los Bermellones showed character in the draw with Os Celeste, with the team scoring the equalizer with ten men on the field.
Mallorca footballer must be high on confidence ahead of the trip to El Alamo but given their poor away record in the 2019/2020 season, we do not believe that there is a big value in betting on Vicente Moreno’s charges. The Tercera Division side, on the other hand, kicked off their Spanish Cup campaign with a 2-1 win over Pedroneras. Considering that the hosts are likely to leave their hearts on the field in the Estadio Facundo Rivas clash, we are tempted to put our money on draw.
Highlighted Player (Joan Sastre):
Joan Sastre, who started his youth career at Mallorca back in 2009, has been playing for los Bermellones ever since. Sastre made his senior debut with Mallorca in a 1-0 win over Peralada on August 20, 2017 and he scored his first ever goal for the islanders in a 1-1 draw with Badalona on December 10, 2017.
The pacey right back was born in Porreres, Spain on April 30, 1997 and it has to be noted that he has two caps with la Roja U19 team. Joan Sastre has established himself as a first-team regular at Mallorca, with the defender making 29 appearances in the Segunda Division last term.
The Spaniard was deployed in the starting line-up for the decider against Deportivo La Coruna where Mallorca emerged triumphant (3-0) and secured promotion to La Liga. Joan Sastre’s contract with los Bermellones should expire on June 30, 2023. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Mallorca):
Thanks to a win over Deportivo La Coruna in the 2018/2019 Segunda Division play-offs final Mallorca secured promotion to Primera Division. Los Bermellones returned to the Spanish top flight following a six-year absence. Over the years Mallorca have turned their Estadi de son Moix into a real fortress, with the team producing much better showings at home than on the travels.
Opened in June 1999, the venue can hold up to 23,142 people. The club based in Balearic Islands are well known for their red shirts with one black stripe and black shorts. Mallorca’s away colours are white and red. Former Barcelona and Inter ace Samuel Eto’o is undisputedly the most notable footballer who played for the club.
Back in 1999 Mallorca made it to the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup final, with the team suffering a 2-1 loss to Lazio in the title game. Four years later los Bermellones won Spanish Copa del Rey, which is considered the club’s biggest success.
