Our football match prediction:
Celta Vigo made a slow start to the season, but the team have been producing thrilling displays in all competitions of late. Os Celeste did well to eliminate star-studded Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals and it is no surprise they are regarded as favourites to win the two-legged tie against Deportivo Alaves. The Galicians head into Thursday’s football match against the Basque outfit following a 2-0 win at Leganes and we predict that the hosts will emerge triumphant in the first leg. Alaves managed to hold Atletico Madrid to a goalless draw at the weekend and they are likely to rely on their rock-solid defence in Thursday’s clash against Celta Vigo. However, it is well known that Os Celeste are a real force to be reckoned with at home and that is the main reason why away win should not be considered. It has to be noted that Eduardo Berizzo’s team recorded seven wins in previous eight home fixtures in the Spanish top flight.
Highlighted Player (John Guidetti):
John Guidetti is one of Sweden’s most talented forwards and the man tipped to replace superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the national team. The highly rated footballer left Brommapojkarna soon after being promoted to the first team set-up, joining Premier League giants Manchester City. And while he never got a chance to shine at Etihad Stadium, Guidetti proved a great deal of potential during loan spells with Feyenoord and Celtic, and eventually earned a permanent contract with La Liga high flyers Celta Vigo. The talented striker has yet to nail down a regular starting berth at Balaidos, but he has been using the time spent on the pitch wisely, and continued his goalscoring form in Spain’s top flight. Playing alongside Nolito and Iago Aspas at club level as well as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Berg on international stage is bound to further aid the player’s development, and many believe he will go on to become one of Sweden’s best ever strikers. Guidetti has so far only made a handful of appearances for Blagult, but that is bound to change in years to come.
Highlighted Team (Alaves):
Alaves are a Spanish football club located in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Alava. The club were founded in 1921 and they play their home games at Estadio Mendizorrotza. The capacity of the stadium is 19,840 and it has to be noted that it is the third oldest stadium in Spanish football. After spending several years in the Spanish Segunda Division, los Babazorros returned to the top flight in 2016. The colour of Alaves’ home kit is blue and white and the club’s local rivals are fellow Basque sides Real Sociedad, Athletic Club, Osasuna and Eibar. Alaves made it to the UEFA CUP final in 2001, but they were beaten by Liverpool 5-4 in a thrilling football clash. Anyhow, that is still regarded as the club’s biggest success. Los Babazorros booked their place in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals on four occasions and they have yet to win the Primera Division trophy.
