Our football match prediction:
Over the years Atletico Madrid have established themselves as one of the best teams in La Liga, but the capital club have yet to find their best form in the 2017/2018 season. Los Rojiblancos failed to impress in a goalless draw with Qarabag in their last group game in the Champions League and, no doubt, a win over Elche would give Diego Simeone’s men a confidence boost. Key attacker Antoine Griezmann is likely to be rested against los Franjiverdes, but the likes of Angel Correa and Fernando Torres should pose a big threat for the opposition defenders. Elche have been producing terrific showings at home in the 2017/2018 Segunda B campaign, but they have a mountain to climb in Wednesday’s football match against Atletico Madrid and, taking everything into account, home win should not be considered. Los Rojiblancos rely on their rock-solid defence in every single match and we predict that they will keep a clean sheet in their Copa del Rey opener.
Highligted Player (Filipe Luis):
Filipe Luis is not just a household name in Brazil; he needs no introduction in Spain and England where he played for various clubs. The left back is known for his tireless approach to the game and an unflinching attitude to protect his goal. Luis started his career with Brazilian club Figueirense and moved across clubs. It was only when he moved to Deportivo La Coruna in 2008 that he came into limelight. After a successful stint with Deportivo, he was snapped up by Atletico Madrid where he won several trophies including La Liga. He was a key member of Diego Simeone’s team that reached the finals of 2014 Champions League. Filipe Luis then joined Chelsea in 2014 but returned to Atletico only a year later. He made his national debut in 2009 and has so far earned 22 caps. Having already won the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, the 30-year-old defender is an important player for Brazil.
Highlighted Team (Atletico Madrid):
Atletico Madrid are a Spanish team that plays in Primera Division (La Liga). Los Rojiblancos or los Colchoneros play their home matches at Estadio Vicente Calderon, which holds up to 54,960 spectators. Atletico Madrid have won 10 La Liga titles, but they have yet to lift the European Cup (Champions League) trophy. Los Rojblancos have won 10 Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) trophies and it has to be noted that they defeated their bitter local rivals Real Madrid in the 2012/2013 Spanish Cup final. The rivalry between the two capital clubs is pretty big and El Madrileno is regarded as one of the most exciting derbies in the world football. Atletico Madrid played two Champions League finals under Diego Simeone, but they failed to beat Real Madrid in the title games (2013/2014 and 2015/2016). However, the Argentine tactician helped Atletico Madrid win the La Liga trophy in 2014 and, no doubt, he is one of the most successful coaches in the history of the capital club.
