Our football match prediction:
Atletico Madrid recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Las Palmas in their last league game in 2016 and, no doubt, los Amarillos are hungry for revenge. The two teams face each other in the Copa del Rey last 16 and Las Palmas will host Atletico Madrid at their Estadio de Gran Canaria in the first leg. It is well known that los Amarillos are a real force to be reckoned with at home and they are capable of making life difficult for top-table sides when playing in front of home fans. Atletico Madrid failed to impress in the first half of the 2016/2017 La Liga campaign, but they could save the season by winning the Copa del Rey trophy. We predict that coach Diego Simeone is going to take Tuesday’s football match against Las Palmas very seriously and, taking everything into account, away win should be considered.
Highligted Player (Sergio Araujo):
Sergio Araujo was born in Buenos Aires on 28 January, 1992 and, as expected, he started playing for his home-town club Boca Juniors. He made just 19 appearances for Boca in the league and he played for the likes of Barcelona B, Tigre and Las Palmas on loan in the past as well. The Argentine attacker scored 25 goals in 43 appearances for los Amarillos in the 2014/2015 Segunda Division campaign and despite the fact that he was linked with a move to Celtic and Real Sociedad, the club owners managed to sign a permanent deal with the former Boca Juniors footballer. Araujo has three caps for Argentina U23 team and he represented la Albiceleste at the 2009 FIFA U17 World Cup. It has to be noted that he scored the winner for Argentina in the opening match of the tournament against Honduras. Araujo scored six goals in eight appearances for the Argentina U17 team. The pacey attacker has a contract with Las Palmas which expires on 30 June, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Atletico Madrid):
Atletico Madrid are a Spanish team that plays in Primera Division (La Liga). Los Rojiblancos or los Colchoneros play their home matches at Estadio Vicente Calderon, which holds up to 54,960 spectators. Atletico Madrid have won 10 La Liga titles, but they have yet to lift the European Cup (Champions League) trophy. Los Rojblancos have won 10 Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) trophies and it has to be noted that they defeated their bitter local rivals Real Madrid in the 2012/2013 Spanish Cup final. The rivalry between the two capital clubs is pretty big and El Madrileno is regarded as one of the most exciting derbies in the world football. Atletico Madrid played two Champions League finals under Diego Simeone, but they failed to beat Real Madrid in the title games (2013/2014 and 2015/2016). However, the Argentine tactician helped Atletico Madrid win the La Liga trophy in 2014 and, no doubt, he is one of the most successful coaches in the history of the capital club.
