Our football match prediction:
Thanks to Marco Asensio’s late goal Real Madrid recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Leganes in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals, first leg. Los Blancos are on the verge of booking their place in the semis of the Spanish Cup, but coach Zinedine Zidane must warn his men against complacency. The French tactician is likely to rest key players in Thursday’s football match, but seeing that Leganes often struggle when playing away from home, we predict the Spanish giants will advance to the next round. Asier Garitano’s men have nothing to lose in the return leg and they are likely to adopt an attack-minded approach in the local derby. Real Madrid should have a number of chances to score on the break and, taking everything into account, they are likely to record yet another win over the fellow capital club. It has to be noted that Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to be rested in the Copa del Rey clash against Leganes.
Highlighted Player (Toni Kroos):
Toni Kroos is a Real Madrid midfielder who started playing for Bayern Munich II at senior level. He made 13 appearances for the reserve team and on 31 January, 2009 he joined Bayer Leverkusen on loan. He made his Bayer debut on 28 February, 2009, coming as a substitute in a 1-0 loss to Hannover. The German midfielder scored ten goals in 43 league appearances with the BayArena outfit and in the summer of 2010 he returned to Bayern Munich. Kroos won three Bundesliga trophies with the mighty Bavarian giants (2007/2008, 2012/2013, 2013/2014) and in 2013 he was part of Bayern Munich’s team that won the Champions League trophy. In 2014, though, he decided to leave the club and the German superstar joined Real Madrid on a six-year-contract. Kroos won the 2015/2016 Champions League trophy with los Blancos and it has to be noted that he produced a thrilling performance in the title game against Atletico Madrid. In 2014 he clinched the FIFA World Cup trophy with Germany.
Highlighted Team (Leganes):
Leganes are a Spanish football club that have mostly been playing in lower leagues. Los Pepineros play their home games at Batarque (Madrid) and the capacity of the stadium is just 8,138. Leganes secured their promotion to the Spanish La Liga for the first time ever in 2016 and, no doubt, that is considered the club’s biggest success. Leganes’ bitterest rivals are fellow capital club Getafe and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other in the South Madrid derby. The colour of the team’s home kit is white and blue, whilst their away kits are green. The likes of Pierre Webo, Samuel Eto’o, Ivan Zarandona, Jose Chamot, Catanha, Ruben Falcon, Jordi Lardin and Pedro Lago are famous players who were part of the Batarque outfit in the past. Lady Maria Victoria Pavon is the first female president in the history of the club and she has been in charge of the club since 2009.
