Our football match prediction:
Barcelona have been scoring goals for fun of late. Following a 3-1 win over Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey last 16, return leg, the Catalan giants did well to crush Las Palmas (5-0) in their last league match. Coach Luis Enrique rested the likes of Gerard Pique, Andres Iniesta and Neymar in the victory over Quique Setien’s troops, but he is likely to field the best possible side against their old rivals Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals first leg. It has been 10 years since Barca recorded their last win at Estadio Municipal de Anoeta and they are desperate to break the spell. Real Sociedad are enjoying a very successful season and seeing that the title holders suit them, we predict that the two teams are going to share the spoils in Thursday’s football match. A man to watch in the home team will be top scorer Willian Jose.
Highlighted Player (Diego Reyes):
Diego Antonio Reyes is a young 23-year-old Mexico centre back who plays for Spanish club Real Sociedad on loan from Porto. The defender has often been described as intelligent in his positioning and strong in the air. He is considered to be a natural ball-playing defender who is comfortable in possession. Although he is primarily a defender, Reyes has played as a defensive midfielder too. He made his professional debut with Club America in 2010 starting as a midfielder but quickly moving into his more naturally suited central defender role. He was quickly snapped up by Porto in 2013 although his playing time at the Portuguese club was limited. Reyes has played for Mexico at various national youth team levels including the gold-medal winning under-23 squad at the 2012 London Olympics. He was called up to the senior team in 2011 and has already participated in Confederations Cup and FIFA World Cup.
Highlighted Team (Barcelona):
Barcelona are a Spanish football club based in Barcelona, Catalonia. Barca were founded in 1899 and they are regarded as one of the greatest clubs in world football. The Catalan giants won their 24th La Liga title in 2016, with Luis Suarez winning “El Pichichi” award. Barcelona have won five European Cup trophies and a number of top-class players were part of the team in the past. The likes of Hristo Stoichkov, Romario, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Johan Cruyff, Diego Maradona and Pep Guardiola are some of many players that played for Barca in the past, but, no doubt, Leo Messi has established himself as the club’s trademark. Barcelona welcome their rivals at Camp Nou, the stadium that was built in 1957. Barcelona’s local rivals are Espanyol, but the rivalry between Barca and Real Madrid is much bigger. The two La Liga giants face each other in “El Clasico”, which is considered one of the most exciting derbies in the world football. Barca are famous for their football youth school La Masia as well.
