Our football match prediction:
After clinching the Ligue 1 title with a thrilling 7-1 win over Monaco, Paris-Saint Germain will be looking to give fans yet another reason for celebration when they take on Caen at Stade Michel d’Ornano in the French Cup semis. Les Parisiens aim to win everything in the 2017/2018 Ligue 1 trophy and they are likely to go all guns blazing at Caen in Wednesday’s football match. Key player Neymar remains in the recovery room, but the likes of Edinson Cavani and Angel Di Maria are likely to prove a handful for the opposition defenders. In their last meeting in the Ligue 1 PSG recorded a 3-1 win over Caen and we predict that the history is going to repeat itself. Kylian Mbappe scored for les Parisiens in the Parc des Princes clash and the talented attacker is likely to prove a handful for the opposition defenders in the Coupe de France clash.
Highlighted Player (Stef Peeters):
Stef Peeters is a Belgian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Ligue 1 side Caen. After making only five appearances for Racing Genk (2011-2015) he was loaned to Sparta Rotterdam in 2013. At the end of the 2013/2014 season he signed a loan deal with fellow Dutch club MVV Maastricht and in 2015 he signed a permanent contract with the club. In 2016 Stef Peeters joined Sint-Truiden and it has to be noted that he scored five goals in 39 appearances for the Belgian club. The midfielder then (2017) moved to France to sign a four-year deal with Caen and he is going to wear No. 8 on his shirt in the 2017/2018 season. The Belgian player was born on February 9, 1992 in Meeuwen-Gruitrode, but he has yet to earn a cap for the Belgium national football team. Peeters’ main position is central midfielder, but he is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder as well. The left-footed footballer has a contract with Caen which expires on June 30, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Paris SG):
Formed by the merger of Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain in 1970, Paris Saint-Germain or as they call it PSG is the most successful club in French football with 31 domestic titles to their name. Having won six Ligue 1 title so far, a record ten Coupes de France, a record six Coupes de la Ligue, six Trophees des Champions and one Ligue 2 title, PSG are also one of only two French clubs to ever win a European title. Les Parisiens were crowned UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup champions back in 1995-96, while their last European trophy was the 2001 UEFA Intertoto Cup. Beginning of the new millennium was particularly hard for the celebrated club who flirted with relegation in 2000s before they were bought by the Quatar Sports Investments group in 2011 when the rebirth of the Paris Saint-Germain as we know it today began. Following heavy squad investments and team boosting, PSG won their first Ligue 1 title in 19 years with Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic almost singlehandedly leading his side towards the trophy with 30 goals. Having established domestic dominance, PSG now set their sights on winning the Champions League which remains an elusive dream for the club from Paris.
