Our prediction for this Coupe de France match:
After a two-week break Nantes are in action again on Friday evening, this time taking on Chateauroux in the Coupe De France Round of 64. The venue will be the Stade de la Beaujoire – Louis Fonteneau. Nantes, the Ligue 1 side are 14 in the standings and with only two wins in the last six matches. The last two matches were defeats to Rennes and Paris St Germain away from home. Their form at home has been good – they lost only once in the last seven encounters. Their opponents in this match, the Ligue 2 side Châteauroux, have won three times in the last six matches but they lost their last match, 1:0 to Gazélec Ajaccio. They were good away from home, where they won three out of the last four matches, but the one loss was in the last away game. The two sides have met 13 times before with Nantes yet to suffer a loss. This game should follow this trend.
Highlighted Player (Diego Carlos):
Diego Carlos is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Nantes as a defender. His main position is centre-back and his preferred foot is right. Diego Carlos began his youth career at America-SP and in 2010 he moved to Desportivo Brasil. After spending the 2012/2013 season on loan at Sao Paulo, the 185-cm-tall defender returned to Desportivo Brasil. However, he made his first-team debut with Madureira during his spell with the club (2014). In 2014 Diego Carlos signed a contract with Portuguese club Estoril Praia and he scored two goals in 39 appearances for the Primeira Liga club. It has to be noted, though, that he played for Porto B (on loan) in the 2014/2015 season. Diego Carlos moved to French club Nantes in the summer of 2016 and you should bear in mind that he quickly established himself as a first-team regular with les Canaris. The Brazilian footballer scored two goals in 34 appearances for Nantes in the 2016/2017 Ligue 1 campaign. His contract with the Ligue 1 side expires on June 20, 2021.
Highlighted Team (Nantes):
Founded on April 21, 1943 Nantes are a professional football club that compete in French Ligue 1. Les Canaris are considered one of the most famous French clubs and they had a lot of success during the sixties and the seventies. Nantes won their first Ligue 1 title in the 1964/1965 season and 36 years later (2000/2001) they clinched their eighth (last) domestic trophy. Speaking of the club’s European success, les Canaris did well to make it to the Champions League semis in 1996, but Italian giants Juventus proved to be a big catch for the French outfit. Nantes welcome their rivals at La Beaujoire-Louis Fonteneau and the capacity of the stadium is 38.004. The likes of Vahid Halilhodzic, Adel Selimi, Michel Der Zakarian, Viorel Moldovan, Mario Yepes, Marcel Desailly, Didier Deschamps, Claude Makelele, Christian Karembeu and Dimitri Payet are the notable footballers who played for the club in the past. Nantes are well known for their yellow jerseys and that is the reason why they are nicknamed the Canaries (les Canaris).
