Our prediction for this Coupe de la Ligue match:
Thanks to Mateo Pavlovic’s late goal Angers eliminated Nancy in the opening match of their Coupe de la Ligue campaign. Les Scoistes aim to build on the victory and they are seen as hot favourites to win Tuesday’s football match against Metz. Angers sit in the relegation zone in the Ligue 1 standings ahead of the visit of les Grenats and, no doubt, a win in the League Cup will see them regain a much-needed confidence. Over the years les Scoistes have turned their Stade Raymond Kopa into a real fortress and we predict the hosts will defeat the out-of-sorts visitors. Metz are on the right track to drop to the Ligue 2 and we do not believe they are capable of upsetting Angers in the last 16 of the Coupe de la Ligue. In their last meeting in Ligue 1 les Grenats emerged triumphant and, no doubt, Stephane Moulin’s men are hungry for revenge.
Highlighted Player (Karl Toko-Ekambi):
Karl Toko Ekambi is a professional footballer who plays for Ligue 1 club Angers as a striker. Ekambi was born in Paris on September 14 1992, but he does not represent les Tricolores on the international stage. The 183-cm-tall attacker plays for Cameroon and it has to be noted that he made his senior debut for les Lions Indomptables in a 3-2 win over Burkina Faso back in June, 2015. Ekambi came as a substitute in the 77th minute of the match, replacing fellow attacker Mengolo. The Cameroonian footballer played for Paris FC during his youth career and he made his first-team debut for the capital club on April 26, 2011 in a 2-2 draw with Beauvais. Karl Toko Ekambi scored 21 goals in 66 appearances for Paris from 2010 to 2014 and at the end of the 2013/2014 season he joined Sochaux. After netting 25 goals in 72 appearances for the club, in the summer of 2016 Ekambi signed a contract with Angers which expires on June 30, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Metz):
Thanks to amalgamation of two amateur clubs Metz were founded in 1932 and soon they became a professional team. Les Grenats are one of the oldest professional teams in France, but they have yet to win the Ligue 1 trophy. Metz finished the 1997/1998 season in second place in the standings and it has to be noted that they were level on points with champions Lens (worse goal difference). However, les Grenats won Coupe de France on two occasions (1983/1984, 1987/1988), with the team beating Monaco and Sochaux respectively in the title games. Emmanuel Adebayor is considered one of the most famous players who whore Metz jersey and you should know that the Togolese attacker scored 15 goals in 44 appearances in the league for the club. Metz play their home games at Stade Saint-Symphorien, the venue which was opened back in September, 1923. Les Grenats wear red shirts and white shorts when playing at home, whilst the colour of their away kits is white.
