Our football match prediction:
Toulouse play host to Clermont at their Stadium Municipal in the opening match of their Coupe de la Ligue campaign. Les Pitchouns have been producing much better performances at home than on the travels this season and you should know that they have recorded three wins in front of home fans so far this season. Toulouse are determined to go all the way in the French League Cup this season and we predict that they will emerge triumphant in Wednesday’s football match against Clermont. Pascal Gastien’s men sit in the top half of the Ligue 2 table ahead of the trip to Toulouse and their main goal is to secure promotion to the French elite division. Seeing that Clermont are not regarded as good travelers, there is every chance the visitors will return home empty-handed. In their last meeting in the Coupe de la Ligue Clermont defeated Toulouse on penalties and, no doubt, les Pitchouns are hungry for revenge.
Highlighted Player (Issa Diop):
After spending two years at Balma SC, Issa Diop joined Toulouse football academy in 2006 and he was making progress year by year. The 194-cm-tall defender made seven appearances for Toulouse B in the 2014/2015 season and he made his Ligue 1 debut with les Pitchouns on November 28, 2015 against Nice. Issa Diop, who was born in Toulouse on January 9, 1997, scored his first ever goal in the French top flight in a 3-0 win over Troyes in December, 2015. Diop is a youth international for France at various levels, but seeing that his father Labysse Diop is of Senegal descent, the Toulouse footballer could represent les Lions de la Teranga at senior level. The Toulouse defender scored two goals for les Pitchouns in the 2016/2017 Ligue 1 campaign and he made no less than 30 appearances for the club in the process. Issa Diop has a contract with Toulouse which expires on June 30, 2020.

Highlighted Team (Toulouse):

Toulouse are a professional football club that compete in Ligue 1. Les Pitchouns are well known for their purple jerseys with white stripes and it has to be noted that they used to wear red and yellow jerseys in the past. Toulouse welcome their opponents at Stadium Municipal and the capacity of the team’s home ground is 33.150. Stadium Municipal was used as a venue for the 1998 FIFA World Cup. Om 1982 the club secured promotion to the Ligue 1 for the first time ever and you should bear in mind that the likes of Jacques Santini and Daniel Jeandupeux were part of the team. A win over Napoli in the round 1 of the 1986/1987 UEFA Cup is considered one of the club’s biggest success as football legend Diego Maradona played for the Italian team back then. Aforementioned attacker Daniel Jeandupeux scored the winner for Toulouse in the penalty shoot-out. Bordeaux are regarded as the club’s fiercest rivals and the two teams face each other in Derby de la Garonne.
