Our match prediction:
Quique Sanchez Flores is not enjoying the best of starts to the 2016-17 season with Espanyol. Following an overwhelming 6-4 defeat to Sevilla at the season’s opener, the Periquitos notched back-to-back draws as they have been frustrated by Malaga at home (2-2) and at Real Sociedad (1-1) last time out. Following their 13th-place finish last season in La Liga, Espanyol will need to make improvements in order to stay in the running for the same – and even better – place in the table. Claiming the first victory is unlikely to come this weekend as Espanyol are welcoming in-form Real Madrid, who will have been buoyed by their come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Sporing in the UEFA Champions League group stage opener. It was the sixth consecutive victory for Zinedine Zidane’s men, who are enjoying quite a successful run against their Sunday rivals. Namely, Los Blancos have won last eight clashes against Espanyol and we are prone to predict their winning streak will be continued.
Highligted Player (Diego Lopez):
Diego Lopez is a Spanish goalkeeper who plays for Milan in the Serie A. Lopez was born in Paradela on 3 November, 1981 and he played for Lugo during his youth career. He made two appearances for Lugo at senior level as well, but in 2000 he joined Real Madrid. The 196-cm-tall shoot-stopper played for both Real Madrid C and Real Madrid B and he made just two appearances for the first team during his first spell at Real Madrid. After spending five seasons at Villarreal (2007-2012) the Spanish goalkeeper played for Sevilla in the 2012/2013 La Liga campaign, but he made no more than eight league appearances for los Sevillanos. He returned to Real Madrid on January, 2013 and he quickly established himself as a first-team regular, replacing Iker Casillas in the starting XI. However, Real Madrid fans wanted to see Iker between the posts and, as a result, Diego Lopez was forced to join Milan in 2014. Lopez has only one cap for Spain national team.
Highlighted Team (Real Madrid):
Real Madrid are a Spanish football club based in Madrid. Real Madrid participate in La Liga (Primera Division) and they have won 32 domestic titles. On the other hand, los Blancos have won 11 European Cup titles and that is the main reason why they are considered the biggest football club in the world. Real Madrid play their home matches at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and the capacity of the stadium is 84,454. Cristiano Ronaldo is the club’s most successful footballer in the 21st century and the Portuguese superstar has won two Golden Ball awards. The likes of Alfredo Di Stefano, Zinedine Zidane, Raul Gonzalez Blanco, David Beckham and Iker Casillas are star players who were part of the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu outfit in the past. Real Madrid’s bitterest rivals are Barcelona, but the rivalry between local rivals Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid is big as well. Real Madrid’s home kit is white and, as a result, the team’s nickname is los Blancos (the Whites).
