Our football match prediction:
By beating the likes of Mainz and Qabala in previous two group games in the Europa League Anderlecht made it to the last 32 of the competition. The Purple & White made it to the next phase, meaning that they have yet to clinch top position in Group C, coach Rene Weiler is unlikely to rest his first-team regulars against Saint-Etienne. Anderlecht are one point away from clinching first place in their group and we predict that hosts will adopt a cautious approach in Thursday’s football game. Les Verts, on the other hand, are with one foot in the Europa League last 32 and seeing that the visitors will be happy with one point from their final group game as well, share of spoils appears on the horizon. You should bear in mind that the two teams played out a 1-1 draw at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in the reverse fixture.
Highligted Player (Diego Capel):
Diego Capel is a former Sevilla winger, who was born in Albox, Spain on 16 February, 1988. Capel played for the likes of Barcelona and Sevilla during his youth career and he made his senior debut for los Sevillanos on 24 October, 2004 against Atletico Madrid. It has to be noted that he was only 16 years old when he helped Sevilla record a 2-1 win over the capital club. He played for the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan outfit between 2004 and 2011 and on 18 July, 2011 he signed a five-year deal with Sporting Lisbon. Capel scored his first goal for the Portuguese outfit on 2 October, 2011, in a 1-0 victory over Vitoria Guimaraes. He played 99 games for Sporting, scoring 10 goals for the capital club between 2011 and 2015. After spending one season at Genoa, he signed for Anderlecht in 2016. The Spanish winger is very quick on the ball and he is well known for his very good crosses. Diego Capel has 25 caps for Spain U21 and he made his debut for the senior team against Denmark on 20 August, 2008.
Highlighted Team (St Etienne):
Saint Etienne are a professional football club that compete in French Ligue 1. Les Verts were founded in 1919 by employees of a grocery store chain based in Saint Etienne. Saint Etienne wear green shirts and white shorts when playing at home ground and they play their home matches at Stade Geofrroy-Guichard. The stadium was opener on 13 September, 1931 and following the renovation the capacity of the venue increased to 42 000. In 1981 les Verts won their tenth Ligue 1 trophy, but they have been in the shadow of Ligue 1 giants Lyon and PSG in the 21st century. Speaking of the club’s European success, Saint Etienne made it to the European Cup (Champions League) final in 1976, but Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich proved to be a big catch for the French outfit. Anyhow, that is regarded as the club’s biggest success. It has to be noted that the likes of Michel Platini, Jacques Santini, Laurent Blanc and Aime Jacquet all played for Saint Etienne in the past.
