Our football match prediction:
Celta Vigo were having their ups and downs in the Europa League group stages, but thanks to a 2-0 win at Panathinaikos in their last group game Os Celeste advanced to the last 32 of the European competition. The Galicians, though, have been handed a tough draw as they take on star-studded Shakhtar Donetsk in the upcoming two-legged tie and it remains to be seen if they are capable of eliminating the Miners in the Europa League knockout stages. Shakhtar are leading the chase for the Ukrainian Premier League trophy and seeing that they impressed in the Europa League group stages, we predict that the visitors will emerge triumphant in Thursday’s football game. The Ukrainians are on an eight-match winning run in the Europa League and they scored 18 goals in previous four games in the competition. Taison has netted four goals in the competition to date and he is likely to pose a big threat for the opposition back-line.
Highlighted Player (Hugo Mallo):
Hugo Mallo is a Spanish footballer who plays for Celta Vigo as a full back. Mallo, who is a capable of playing at centre back if needed, was born in Marin on 22 June, 1991 and he has been playing for Os Celeste since 2009. During his youth career Hugo Mallo played for the likes of Porvir and Pontevedra, but he made the biggest progress at Celta Vigo. The Celta defender has three caps for Spain U21 team and he played for the U19 and the U20 teams as well in the past. On 9 January, 2013, Mallo suffered a serious knee injury and, as a result, he was forced to miss the rest of the season. The right-footed player has a contract with Celta Vigo which expires on 30 June, 2019. You should bear in mind that he scored one goal in 34 appearances for the Galician outfit in the 2015/2016 Primera Division campaign. In the 2014/2015 campaign he scored four goals for Celta in the national championship.
Highlighted Team (Shakhtar Donetsk):
Despite the fact that they were founded back in 1936, Shakhtar Donetsk were struggling to win the Ukrainian Premier League trophy until 2002. The Miners have established themselves as the dominant force in Ukrainian football and it has to be noted that they won their ninth domestic trophy in 2014. Shakhtar Donetsk were playing at Donbass Arena in the past, but due to war in Donbass the club temporarily moved to Arena Lviv. In 2009 the Miners won the UEFA Cup trophy under Romanian boss Mircea Lucescu, beating Werder Bremen in the title game. Croatian full back Dario Srna was named the man of the match. Dynamo Kiev are considered Shakhtar Donetsk’s main rivals and there have always been fireworks in meetings between the two sides. Shakhtar have a rivalry with Metalurh Donetsk as well and the two local rivals face each other in the Donetsk Derby. Chelsea ace Willian, Manchester United star Mkhitaryan and Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho all played for Shakhtar in the past.
