Our prediction for this Europa League match:
Despite the fact that Maurizio Sarri rested several first-team regulars against Malmo, Chelsea did well to beat the Swedish side on the road in the first leg of the Europa League last 32. The Blues are with one foot in the last 16 of the European competition, but they can’t afford any complacency in Thursday’s football match. Anyhow, seeing the Chelsea have slim chances of winning the Premier League trophy, we predict that they are going to leave their hearts on the field in each and every Europa League game. Malmo are not considered good travelers and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Chelsea’s party at Stamford Bridge. Olivier Giroud is likely to lead the line for the hosts and we believe that he is going to pose a big threat for the opposition defenders in the return leg.
Highlighted Player (David Luiz):
The Brazilian defender David Luiz started his football career in the youth in Vitoria, one of the five oldest football clubs of Brazil. Luiz makes his debut in 2005 in the club's first team and will continue to play football until 2007.
In 2007, the Portuguese Benfica gets David to Europe where he is the substitute of Ricardo Rocha. He first comes on loan, later Benfica takes him finally over. From the 2009-2010 season Luiz becomes a fixture and one sees that it has achieved a class defender at home. The Portuguese give him a new contract with a fixed transfer fee for interested clubs from 50 million euros. David Luiz plays from 2006 to 2010 in Benefica. In 2010,with this club, he becomes champion in Portugal. In both 2009 and 2010 the Taca Da Liga is won, the second Portuguese Cup competition.
In October 2011, the English Chelsea makes a bid of 25 million euros on the defender. A transfer that Benfica (despite Luiz contracted price of 50 million) cannot deny. Although David Luiz not immediately gets a starting position, he is, with 20 league games and 11 matches in the Champions league in the 2011-2012 season, hugely important for the team. Luiz also won the Champions League that year. From the 2012-2013 season, Luiz is a basic player for Chelsea. He knows the club that season does not overwinter in the Champions League but manages to win the Europa League. In the 2013-2014 season he played 34 official matches for Chelsea eight in the Champions League. In the Premier League the club finishes third in the Champions League Londoners in the semi-finals to be eliminated by Atletico Madrid (3-1).
Highlighted Team (Malmo FF):
Founded on February 24, 1910, Malmo are a Swedish team that compete in Allsvenskan league. The Blues welcome their rivals at Stadion, Malmo, the venue which was opened in April, 2009. It is important to note that the stadium can hold up to 22,500 supporters of which 18,000 are seated.
Malmo are the most successful Swedish side, with the team winning their 23rd domestic trophy in 2017. The Blues finished the season seven points clear of AIK, scoring 63 goals and conceding 27 in the process. Speaking of the club’s European success, Malmo did well to make it to the European Cup final in the 1978/1979 season, but they eventually failed to win the trophy.
The Swedish side were beaten by Nottingham Forest in the title game (0-1), with Trevor John Francis scoring the only goal of the match. Malmo wear sky-blue shirts and white shorts when playing at home, whereas their away colour is black.
